I did not know that, I assume they were ancillary positives (people were being treated for other conditions).
Yes, outside the trials it is difficult to know how many asymptomatic breakthroughs occurred. The loss of taste/smell is very telling, but would you really go and be tested if you had a mild cold and were vaccinated? Surely not. So, the 0.00007% is surely a underestimate as far as transmissibiity is concerned. It is more informative about your own chances of falling sick.
But more to DKos' point though: getting vaccinated and wearing a mask is a little like staying sober if you are the designated driver. Its not just you that could be harmed. - PT21
Here is the data from the CDC, see below. Keep in mind some employers or travelers require tests prior to, so some of the Asym positives would come from there. Still early, need more data but you have to like the trend on break throughs. I think a lot of us have now been conditioned for ZERO risk, that is just not rational. Here in SFL I know a lot of front line workers, I know a lot of folks at the 3 rinks from adult and kid hockey. On the adult side, after vaccination they tend to appreciate the freedom and the be less diligent with mask wearing, hang out more together. Hockey has been going on since September for the kids and adults, no masks on the ice. In both cases little to no spread. It shocked me really but lends itself to the idea that spread takes place inside with not so great ventilation, crowded and where people hang for a long while. I just started to play hockey again in Feb. With the front line workers I think it speaks to the effectiveness of the vaccine. On hockey I think it speaks to ventilation and crowd size, rinks use the ventilation system that is considered the best as it relates to Covid, similar to airplanes I believe. Again, I take precautions.
There needs to be more data and my experience that I shared is a small local sample but it is a good trend and at some point we all need to realize risk exists everyday.
For all you folks about Covid and its origins, should it be the Wuhan virus etc. I would suggest looking into Josh Roggin Chaos under heaven, liberal journalist but a journalist. Don't just read the headlines, his work is spun by both sides. He bashes Trump but he lays out the facts for you to decide in a fair way. READ don't listen to the media

He is better, but he not 100% better. I have already posted the stats numerous times to show this. - MBFlyerfan
You can bottom line this argument by asking yourself a simple question, Is Couts part of the solution here or part of the problem? I say its pretty clear he is part of the solution. So lets focus on getting rid of the players who are not, and there is a pretty long list of those players on this team. |

This sums the Coots question up nicely. He is the kind of player that you win with. You need to add the other winning parts not subtract what you already have.

Obviously you didn’t watch round 2 playoffs last year. Barzal made coots and philly his female dog - SMS4016
Pump the brakes. He had 6 points in 7 games. Only 2 goals. He hardly made anyone his %%$^%$. He looked fast and created chances but did not finish a lot.

No point in arguing with people who probably wear a mask while they are alone in the car.

We have so few “winning pieces” that there is certainly an argument for shopping Coots imo. |

That is a valid argument. They could go that route. If I was the GM I would not.

You do? Who is the better all-around center? Couturier. Does Barzal produce significantly more points than Couturier? No, actually Couturier produces slightly less. Barzal is the fancier stick handler and the flashier playmaker. Doesn't make him the better hockey player. - bmeltzer

That’s the rub. They need change but trading your best all around player probably won’t get you started in the right direction. |

I guess we’ll know in time, Bill. They’re 5 years apart in age. One stepped into a pretty comfortable situation, while the other is stepping into John Tavares’ shoes and could be the future face and building block of his organization, you (frank)in clown! |

So I watched the Tom Wilson videos, and I am not sure how much different his actions are than some of the other stuff you see when guys take liberties with guys after they take an extra whack at a goalie...all this stuff about hitting him in the head is nonsense...he hit him in the shoulder...The bread man got what he deserved...you mess with a bull you get the horns...sorry..I can't stand most of Tom Wilson's crap he pulls, but this is more media nonsense, because well, it is Tom Wilson...
If you don't want to get your face smashed in, then don't try to jump on the guys back...and that is like the first thing you learn in hockey when it shifts to physicality...never grab a guy from behind if he is engaged in the front...you throw off your teammate who is engaged and you can get yourself hurt...that is what I was taught anyway. |

No problem with the punch but deliberately trying to slam someone on their head is not ok |

I can see your point but Panarin was trying to pull of wilson bc buch was face first in the ice and couldnt defend himself. Panairn wasnt trying to engage in a fight. Wilson is soft, but the rest of the league is even softer so nobody does poop anymore |

Listen, Wilson is a punk...but if you engage him, he isn't a small guy...you get what you deserve, and Breadman jumping on his back was literally like watching a high school girls fight. He pushed the guys down...not slamming their heads into the ice...just so much drama because it is Wilson... |

What Wilson did to Buchnevich is bush league. Wilson should not be given the benefit of the doubt. If they decide to suspend him I am fine with it.
The Panarin portion of the kerfuffle was fine with me. He came after Wilson.
