Who put the Flyers into the wayback machine? I have little doubt the Penguins will make it difficult at some time, but this has been a great first period. Bill, I wish we could simply go out and shake the old center tree, but since thats not happening....who might be available for trade over the summer? |

While more data needed the break through rate is .00007 - wcorvette
Yes, I read that too (PBS I think). But it is nice to see it be confirmed in a national setting, with even just 1 dose, and with the elderly to boot. |

I refuse to believe that these are the Flyers that I'm watching... - Tomahawk
The season is over, no chance of making the playoffs, so if they finish up strong they can just blame the season on 1 bad month. No need to make many changes!! Playing well in none pressure situations is what bad teams do!
Pressure doesn’t build character, it reveals it! |

Yeah, and?
The guy is right. When you sign a guy for 7 years and 50 million and he’s playing poorly in year 2, that’s a problem. Having the 2nd OA pick from just 4 years ago playing like a 4th liner is perhaps even worse. - BiggE
All Bill was saying is that a team builds down the middle. It's not "sad" to need a 3rd quality center... it's normal.
And it's not unusual for a signing to go bad or a draft choice. So NP didn't work out. It happens. What confuses me is the Laughton signing. He is an awesome fourth line center who can fill in for an injured winger in the top nine. But he's not a third line center on a winning team. My math isn't good enough to understand whether that signing was the right one for a fourth line center.
I still think there is some hope, though I am thoroughly down in the dumps like the rest of you. It's a combination of things and not just one thing. We have to dump at least one big contract, somehow. Jake or JvR? You have to find team that is interested in some of our assets bundled together for a disgruntled top six center or one they simply can't afford. And with any cap space we clear from the dumping, we hopefully can sign one difference Maker probably at an inflated cost.... Usual names come up... Eichel etc. |

Ok. My concern is more for those who haven’t been vaccinated.

Bill called it from the start. A lack of a further plan on d beyond adding Gustafson was a bad move. It would have taken a lot else to go right to make this a good season. That is now apparent. My hope is York is a future 1 and we get a rhd in trade. Jones is the shiny option here. Martinez would be a good stop gap but I can’t see a four or five year at that age. Just hope fletch does something and not resign a Gus type. |

Agreed but if the breakthrough rate is super low that means that vaccinated are not getting the virus, if you don’t get it you can’t pass it. |

While I agree about Hayes this season no one knows who he will be next season I can make a case he will be much closer to his first season and not this season. Patrick is nothing but a prospect right now, he needs to prove otherwise |

Not true, sir..
Covid 19 is unusual in that it is the only among the 7 known Coronaviruses that finds a foothold in both the respiratory and pulmonary tracts (nose and lungs, essentially). The vaccine addresses the latter. It does not address the relatively benign colonies residing in your respiratory tract which are not entering your blood stream.
Your 'infectability' is correlated with your viral load, which is correlated with how sick you are. But even if you are not sick yourself, you still have the potential to infect others via nasal tract.

So is it true if I get tested that the test won’t detect I have it in my nasal passage a d therefore show me as not having covid when I do

Not sure anyone knows if that’s correct. |

It's very much the same thing. The Flyers came into this season hoping Patrick would step up and be that third productive center. It hasn't happened and Hayes has also had a bad season. It didn't help that Frost was lost for the season four periods into his season.
Last year, the Islanders lacked a 3rd center to supplement Barzal and Nelson. They went out and got Pageau. - bmeltzer

Depends on the kind of test. Usually, the test would be nasal swab, which would certainly detect it.
But more relevant to your discussion with Dkos: he may be vaccinated, but it could still find a foothold in his upper respiratory passages, and transmit it, while not falling sick himself.

Not everyone is vaccinated and no one knows if a vaccinated person can transmit the virus. I’m fully vaccinated, but my wife and daughter are not yet. I wear a mask in public and appreciate others wearing masks because I’d rather not give covid to my wife and daughter (or to any unvaccinated person I might come in contact with). Seems to me the president is just being considerate of those he comes in contact with. My friend’s 13 year old nephew (in the suburban Philadelphia area) just tested positive for covid on Saturday. Things are trending in the right direction, but it’s not time to let your guard down yet. - Dkos I have a hard time understanding the reluctance to wear a mask. If you don't want to wear one because someone demands it, simply do it because it definitely reduces the virus's ability to spread to another person. It certainly cannot hurt in any way. The cherry on top is that it also helps reduce cold and flu transmission...these may not kill most people but they sure make you feel like crap. Its not a political statement, its good citizenship

The no maskers don’t possess a lot of common sense, believe it or not. |
