In 2 years we will have a large amount of cap tied up in our core of EP, Hughes, Boeser and Bo. We will need ELC's to round out our top 6, like every top team in the league tends to need. The days of getting your top players for 7m or less(mackinnon, pastrnak, etc) is over. It will now be big contracts like McDavid, Eichel, Matthews, Marner for your top guys. ELC's will soon be extremely valuable as teams can only afford a few big contracts. - Retinalz
Podkolzin not playing this season may benefit the team more than we know, since it slides his contract 1 year further. |

I wonder if we luck out and get one of Power, Clarke, Berniers, McTavish, Eklund - if any of these kids are ready to step in and play next year??? - Brooks_Light
I’d say no one is ready in this draft. I mean a few of them could tread water but they wouldn’t be impact players. It doesn’t appear to be a good draft. Although, perhaps with more games played a couple of players would have been able to separate themselves from the pack. There are 4 or 5 players that could go 1st lol |

You realize how lucky this team is with draft lottery seeding right? - VanHockeyGuy
yeah no kidden
If there is a bright side - we did drop 3 spots each time and still got Petey and Quinn.
If we do manage a top 5 or even 7 pick - how many of those kids are capable/ready to play next year??

Eklund was a pretty soft player who shied away from board work, in the 2 games i have seen him. Not interested personally.
I think both Beniers and McTavish are nhl ready but I doubt any defenseman is ready, except to a desperate team that is trying to sell hope. |

Ya, that Brock guy sucked on Bo's line. - Reubenkincade
Right forgot about that. He was decent there but I do think long term Brock would be better with a centre that can distribute the puck better than Bo. IMO. |

I'm not holding out hope, but it would be so fitting for this to be the year the Canucks finally win a top 3 pick |

Beniers could solve the 3LC argument regarding where Miller is bets suited next year |

Power, Berniers, Johnson all have a year of NCAA under their belt.
Eklund, Edvinsson, Lysell all played SHL
Clarke, McTavish, Raty all played euro pro (mens leagues)
That's all better than CHL - so I'd expect a few to make the jump (NHL) and be somewhat effective. |

I agree. Dude is better than (or at least the same as) the Highmores, Veseys, etc. playing for the Canucks. Lots of other teams have those level of plugs. If he was on a 900k contract I'm sure he'd be playing somewhere right now. Maybe not well, but playing. |

Honestly, top 2 picks instead of top 3 is good for us. With our luck we'd be at spot 6 and drop to 9 if it was still top 3. |

I havent seen Hughes play - I honestly know nothing about him - I was actually asking earlier for info in the thread.
Guenther is playing well at u18 currently.
We need D and C and there's plenty in the top 10 for us to grab. BPA is the way to go. |

Doge is fine for a pump and dump. The real question remains is the token sustainable? Can never hurt to have some in your portfolio. |

As it gains more and more traction, and more and more retailers allow people to pay with it.. it'll become more sustainable.

3. Seattle Kraken: Luke Hughes, D, US-NTDP (USHL)
With the first-ever selection for the Kraken, why not take the defender who may be a little raw still but could just have the highest upside of this class. Just six days away from being eligible in 2022, Hughes could be the perfect core prospect that the new NHL team needs to build around as they begin constructing the team. |
