I'm not really a cancel culture type of person, so I'll make you a deal. You post that using sexual preference as a means of demeaning another is bad form, and that you shouldn't have done it; and I'll cease the boyfriend thing permanently. Deal? |

Nice effort, but given the tenor of the BoD last night, you need a picture with more than one ledge dweller. - mohel
what did I miss last night? Hawks lost vs a superior team ramping up for the playoffs. |

Anyone know whatever happened to snapitupstairs and savvyone?
Miss those guys.....Few others I can't recall exact screen names who usually engaged quite a bit as the conversations while not always 100% in agreement were usually mostly civil. |

That's what I saw. But, because of that....Stan is a dope, JC is not, and to some, never will be, a decent coach, and the rebuild is a failure.
Personally, I think the board began to believe mid-season the Hawks were pretty close to contention again. And now reality has set in, and the Board of Doom is in full flower. |

Snap got a gig at The-Rink, not sure if it is currently active. Nick Leddy's Uncle Savvy hasn't been on in awhile. Both good guys. |

Yeah. They're closer than they were last season, but it's a slow process. One day things will just suddenly fall exactly into place and the team will take off, but there's a lot of shuffling to keep doing until then. |

Q would have this group near the top, but they really need Keenan. Or Torts. Or Gallant. And Stan better get several face punchers. The only way to be good is to club the other team into the ice. Everyone knows this - the 2009-2015 Hawks were a little itty bitty exception. With that, I need a cigarette. - mohel
All kidding aside, it would be interesting to see what Trotz could do with this team. |

You missed a bunch of Board of Doomers whining about anyone associated with the team. No one seems to understand that a rebuilding club is going to have some/allot of rough patches. With the number of rookies being introduced to the team this rebuild will tax the patience of fans who understand the rebuild will take a while, I’m afraid the Doomers who panic shift by shift are going to start having strokes. I think we’ll see more of the same next season. If the Doomers don’t start to understand it’s not about winning but about building, it’s going to be a long year or two. |

I remember it going just like that in 2006-2009. Talent level still needs a jolt, imo. And much experience is needed.
I'd like to see several guys signed to flip at the deadline to a contender. |

Hawks were propped up early by a superior power play that was lethal and making up for their awful 5 v 5 scoring. Once said PP cooled off.....it all balanced out quickly.....
Younger players.....I think the board needs to realize guys have a breakout year, league adjusts, younger players mostly have a hard time adjusting IN SEASON to what the league is doing or getting out of a rut (bad luck, etc) and then the next year....they bounce back.
ADB needs to be the case study here. So now everyone wants to launch Dach into the sun because he broke his wrist, came back, likely isn't feeling 100% comfortable and probably having concerns he could reinjure it, and now is a bust....and a bottom 6 player.
IMO when the window to win is closed, aka rebuilding/retooling/whatever, does it matter? Not really....on a cup contender and a guy regresses....I get the concern because you need guys playing up to potential/consistency.
Thank christ there is is only 3 games left........ |

I didn't include him because I think would have them become a better defensive team soon. |

ADB should be a case study but many posters are ready to trade Dach for a used jockstrap, a roll of tape and a wooden Sherwood. |

With 7 or 8 rookies the Hawks have introduced into the lineup, Trotz, or any coach would have to change their focus from tactics and strategy to rebuilding and teaching. And guess what! The results would be similar. JC may or may not prove to be an NHL coach but right now coaching is not the issue. |

True dat. I do think, though, that Trotz would demand the forwards play defense in order to get playing time. I'm a fan of No-neck, but I don't think they would have a much better record with him right now. |

I admit I have been on Dach's case, but my observation is that he would be better off as a winger than as a center. I never said he would be a bust, or a third liner. Here is a scouting report on Wheeler, and why i think Dach would be better as a winger.
SCOUTING REPORT
Has tremendous size and reach for the wing position, as well as good wheels for a big guy. Controls the puck effectively in the corners and possesses a good scoring touch. Is at his best when driving through traffic areas. At times, he stops moving his feet and becomes a little lazy on the ice. Should also use his massive size more frequently so as to become more intimidating to play against. Can go through important scoring slumps.
Long Range Potential: Big, talented all-round winger.

yeah, I can't speak for everyone but I was glad they made this move after last year because it was more of a stuck in the middle approach that only prolongs the inevitable and if anyone disagrees go look at the Bulls and White Sox......The exception to the rule seems to be Boston and Pittsburgh but they have done a tremondous job ushering guys in and out to keep their windows open.....Pittsburgh...what is it 15 years? Boston 10+?
For me....I expect some of the dumber mistakes that are happening to stop with the D men and forwards next year...by years end we should truly see where JC is at with this group. If said players are still making asinine plays, and by players guys who got a long look this year not rookies next year, than you have to decide if it's the coaching and/or said players. Next summer is where Bowman could get creative if he starts to see guys plateauing and not hitting the ceiling the organization originally had in mind......see the Russian Frankenstein who should be launched asap.
I vividly remember a few things pre dynasty run....End of the 2006-07 game there was a game in STL where you could see the potential of Big buff as he bodied the hell out of guys. Think that's also the year SHarp fought a bunch, etc......Some big time turds on that team though.....mercy
2007-08....this was the big step year and I still think we are about 2, maybe 3 years away from this...where you flirt with a legit playoff spot and your younger guys are carrying you.....Remember they also sold on Tuomo Ruutu here and following year dealt Wisniewski for Sammy Pahlsson, and the next year dealt Barker for Kim Johnsson and Nick Leddy.....point is some of these younger building blocks now that everyone starts to rave about aren't shoe ins to stay here LT.
This is when I start getting really excited. I loved that 2007-08 season and I argued with anyone and everyone on the DH board that they needed to keep the Robert Lang's of the world to push for the playoffs to get the kids a taste as nothing compares to playoff hockey....whole new level of speed, battle, and endurance.
Most underrated move in the entire Hawks dynasty run was when they signed Q on board before 2008-09 and then immediately, and rightfully, poop canned Savard after the slow start....Q benching SHarp and Kane in Arizona early that year set the tone and Hawks never looked back. |

Thought we were getting a cracked cup for him too.
I don't know if it's his size, last season, the play-in games vs. EDM that's leading to greater expectations?
The kid just turned 20 in January and to Steve's point I don't think it's really a stretch to see how he hasn't come back gangbusters after sitting 3/4's of season from a significant injury. |

I think those are two types of posters. One is the pure troll who gets off on getting a rise out of people. The other is the person who is so angry at the outcome of the game that they need to get others riled up to feel better. |
