Seattle gets 1-5, they start at 3 and can more down 2 or up 2 from there. If we finish 29th we can go from 1-2 or 4-6 depending on ball drop. - Retinalz
Either way I'm sure they'll pick ahead of VAN.

This is not an exaggeration, 90% of the ladies I've listened to music with hate Rush and Neil Young. It's weird. - Load Management
Rush for sure but I know a lot of cool chicks who love Neil Young. I've learned most of his songs on my acoustic here and it's a hit. Chicks dig the guitar man... |

You can get a Franchise player at any point in the draft really. At 6OA the chances are still high to get one, esp this year with no clear-cut top 2 prospects. Power is really the only consensus and his ranking is general at 1 but has been seen as low as 3rd. Some good players will drop in to rounds 2 and 3 because teams don't have enough of a read on them. This is going to be the ultimate "Every pick is a lottery pick" draft. - Retinalz
Shall see how she falls then. I think Jim should consider trading down. Isn't a huge gap between tiers.

I would think it would be such a bigger gamble trading down this year. Everyone's boards are going to be so different outside the top 5.. maybe the guy they'd target later will still be there, maybe some other team has him higher.
I'd say just hold steady and draft where they land, unless someone really overpays to jump up a few slots. |

I don't like the idea of moving down this year, trust your scouts and pick who you think is BPA at your spot. |

Everybody's boards are very different usually.
You target whoever is there. If they think they could get a player of similiar calibre later on to pick up another asset. Why not.
Benning has Boeser at 12th and got him at 23. |

Most of these kids played 20 games. If you get it wrong, you had one shot.
You trade down, you get two shots. |

Hopefully they weren't just scouting them just based on this year! As well, the chances of getting it wrong get higher the further back you move in the draft. Not trading down (especially if they're drafting top 6) gives you better odds of getting it right.
I'd be fine if they traded back a bit in the second or third rounds. Just not their first rounder. |

Probably only 2 going in the first round this year. They need speed up front and scoring help. I don't think another Hughes helps that. |

Not another Hughes a solid RHD dman that can take control of the second pairing and chip in on the PP. Plus a 3LC should be a priority. Bowser-Horvat-Hogs-Petey-Miller-Pods (maybe) is an excellent top 6. round it out from there. |

Trading down in the top 10 is something teams just never think to do. BPA is simply that, BPA and the kid you have ranked at 5OA is tanked as such because you feel he will be better than a kid you have ranked 9OA and then w/e 2nd or 3rd round pick you get for moving down.
Sometimes BPA at your current position will also meet a team biggest need(ours being Defense) so moving down either changes your BPA to a Forward which is needed, but not as much, or you risk that other defender you had ranked highly and would fall to be snatched beforehand.
Just look at NYR, they moved up from 22 to 7 in order to try and get EP and we took him at 5. how did that 7OA turn out for them? |

There are 5 players that I think will look really good. Maybe 6. I just think at 6. Trading down nets you two good pieces instead one a little bit better.
Say a #2 defender or 70-80 ppg forward vs picking up two 45-50 point forwards or a 55 forward and #3 defender. |

Jim was ready to trade down to get him. Nashville was trying to grab a top 3 pick for him.
The team has many needs. I believe in BPA to a point. You can't be the oilers and draft soft scoring forwards or like the Canucks ignoring RHD the entire time. If one isn't there why would you reach. |
