done like staal
or done like hall? - homiedclown
Hall was never done.
He was incredibly unlucky and plain bad in some games
He said himself he wanted to be more of a role player than a feature here. Eichel was hurt and the spotlight went on him and he folded
Went to Boston to a second line and is thriving
It is what it is |

Then maybe he should have taken Girgensons contract instead of raping Kim for $8m |

We're beyond looking for a 2C or 3C. That time is past. Either we're looking a goalie to play with Ullmark, a defenseman and a winger or Adams is blowing it up and putting Cozens at 1C.
It's either the final try or an earth-shattering rebuild. That's where we are. Does he think we can roll with these guys or is it another 3-5 year rebuild?
The press conference should give us a hint |

Disagree with the earth-shattering rebuild. Even if Eichel is gone, they will try to middle it.
Not that I agree with that strategy if Jack demands a trade...they know the fanbase will revolt, so they'll try to get a package of vets the can stitch together. |

I'm not in favor of moving Eichel. I'm very well established in that lane. But if they do, it has to be in conjunction with moving Skinner and resetting the cap back to zero. I understand a team can't absorb $19m between the two of them but if you want to sell me on a rebuild, you better clear the cap. It can't be a bag of magic Tage beans |

I wanted him as a low-cost Larry replacement. For all of our collective sanity, I hope Eakin was a Ralph choice and not an Adams decision. God knows the analytics guy Nightingale wouldn't have signed off on that - jcragcrumple
If the coach overrode the GM and his entire staff (of like 3 people), that's a troubling statement about the entire organization and doesn't make anyone look good.
Nightingale has been here since Darcy. How much of an impact has he had?

Well, they say in the writer/reporter business the best stories come from either bad teams or conversely very good teams...it's the middle which is boring.
I'd say you'll have plenty of stories to cover if Jack asks out. |

Does anyone know who actually makes the personnel decisions for the Sabres?
The rumors we've all heard: Terry pushed the ROR trade to STL for bonus purposes, JB loved Ralph, Ralph loved Eakin and we still suck (that part isn't a rumor).
So who is running the asylum and who has a voice? No idea |

Absolutely.
That contract is immovable, no GM will offer up what it would take to trade him. |

I think they owe it to themselves to give it one more go with Eichel and Co.
If it blows up next year then you deal with the fallout. Whether Adams feels the same remains to be seen |

Kim and Terry for the big ones...Kevyn brings major moves to them.
I don't think that is uncommon for major moves to inform ownership, present the idea and its' merits, get the green light.
Kevyn probably has autonomy with lesser moves.

It's pretty (frank)ed that we have no faith that the GM has total autonomy. The GM (or president) should always have total autonomy |

With all the 1 year contracts, seams like the Sabres had a way out after this season.

No clue either. It just makes everyone look bad.
It's interesting that people assume Nightingale objects to these moves. No clue if he does or not. This is his 4th GM. In an organization that's seemingly turned over everyone multiple times, it's odd. You almost have to assume he's not making any waves.

I would kill to know the inner workings of the organization.
Nightingale has a doctorate in engineering and mathematics so I have to assume he knew Eakin sucks |

Yes
Not all 10 seats. Probably keep 4 in the 300 level.
Just discussing the lower pair this afternoon.
I really enjoy the games, the dinner before ect.
I'm a homer obviously, but I'm buying donnie G. And the young effort crew. Last 20 games have been entertaining.
I think eichel wants out and they move him this summer. Same for the viking and rico award winner.
Why hire a big name coach to work with this new young core and the return from eichel+?
I'm not sure what a re tread coach really brings?
We want a young core to learn how to play together and for each other. That points to an educator like donnie g.

Points be damned he was still a 50 point player with positive offensive and defensive impacts.

It's almost impossible to know who's good in a really bad organization. A few months ago, Granato was just another part of the terribleness. Maybe Nightingale is good and Adams will finally start listening to him. It's really hard to give anyone there the benefit of the doubt. |

Well, the Rico award winner wasn’t smiling in his pic. Doosh move for sure.
Also, can someone explain to me what a Boston wienerhead is? People have mentioned that Eichel is a Boston something or other being from Canada, I don’t know what that is. I just picture someone like marky mark or Adam Sandler.

It feels like if they bring back Ullmark, they don't just need one additional goaltender, they need 2 with how often he is out of the lineup.
If that's true, then it is really worth it to bring back Ullmark instead of going in a different direction? |

Game theory time:
Garbage organization, made up award, it’s a ploy to try to get him to like buffalo and resign.
Smiling shows he is buying into this ploy, not smiling says Terry can go (frank) his mother.
The Sabres organizations main flaw in the past 8 years is 55. The result of mismanaging him will result in the loss of 9 and 23.
The organization still has no goalie, no grit, no solidified direction. Thinking this will be a quick turnaround is foolish and will only compound the problem. |
