Games played, sure.
But 9-6-3 with a .917 this year is pretty damn good.
That's 60% of their wins while playing 30% of the games - jcragcrumple
2.63 gaa...am of the opinion he's a 1A goalie at best right now |

I've always viewed GAA as a team stat. If the team allows 50 shots and he has a .917 save percentage, GAA really tells you nothing |

Does he end up with the Rangers or Sabres? - Gr8daygo
i'd take him...he had a similar team in tampa with a superstar at center (vinnie) a high-scoring winger (st. louis) a consistently good center who was coming into his own (richards) and an above average group of defensemen...
then again, he also had the Boulin Wall |

not saying your wrong, but stats can be plucked and manipulated to make whatever point you want to make...
after watching ullmark all these years his glove hand is still very beatable, his lateral movement is sketchy and he's still flopping like a rookie, although much less than he once did...
he's had some very good moments lately, moreso than at any point in his career, and he's a friggen rock in the shootout...but because of injuries and inconsistencies, he lacks the consistency and durability of a true no. 1...
imo |

Injuries are one thing and certainly a valid concern, but when he's healthy, he's good. I mean he was real .500 on this dumpster fire of a team.
If the Sabres let him and McCabe go and they string together healthy seasons, there will be a lot of people pissed off that we let two good players go for nothing. When healthy, both are good/very good |

(Besides Ekblad) Hornqvist and Verhaeghe were both still out. I think both will be back Monday, as Q said they would’ve played last night if it was game 1. - Ratsreign

Agreed, both should be brought back IMO, but it has to be for the right fit under the Cap. There is still concern with both players. |

You can be a good player, but if you are only available for half the time it hurts your team in the long run. |

and there's the key, two "good" players...i like ullmark and wouldn't mind signing him for three more years...but if rumors are true that his camp is looking at 5yrs/$5M+ then I believe they're overrating him |

The Sabres consistently cut bait with players at the low point of their careers and either sell them for pennies on the dollar or lose them for nothing. That worrisome trend could continue with McCabe, Ullmark and even Eichel. It's chronic poop management. That's how you spin your tires for a decade |

If he didn't have injury concerns, he probably gets that easy, think injury concerns drop that atleast a mill |

"Tortorella was 227-166-54 in the regular season and 13-18 in the playoffs coaching the Blue Jackets. His 673 wins in 20 seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Rangers, Vancouver Canucks and Blue Jackets are most among United States-born coaches in NHL history.
The two-time Jack Adams Award winner (2004, 2017), voted as NHL coach of the year, guided the Lightning to the 2004 Stanley Cup and the Blue Jackets to their first postseason series victory, against the 62-win Lightning in 2019, when they became the first team to sweep the Presidents' Trophy winners in a best-of-7 series." |

agree...same with term...no way the sabres should be giving out a five year deal to a goalie who has a career high of 37 games played |

Agree wholeheartedly, but you need players on the ice, not in the press box to. |

That's was impresses me about Rhino, he's always available, don't like when he disappears for stretches, but he is always on the ice. |

"The best ability is availability"
In Ullmark's case, they definitely need to invest in a proven guy to back him up to guard against injury concerns. In McCabe's case, they don't really have to do anything. The Sabres have quality depth in Rochester now |

he's been excellent, took his game to the next level...have no problem ponying up a bit to keep him...yet, i'd like to see a four-year deal in the $7.5m range as a way to allow for some freedom on both sides with skunk hitting 29 yrs. old and many quality years still ahead of him |

I wonder if Tocchet is in play with the familiarity with Karmanos |

So if they do go with a different coach than Granato, is there any way he stays on the coaching staff? Would he even want to? Oh well, a whole bunch of time over the next 3 months to watch the ‘drama’ unfold. |

How good Kucherov and Stamkos play is the wild card. Without them, FL has been at least equal, if not much better than TB in all but one of their games. FL was probably the most dominant in the game TB won in OT because Vasi was on fire. Last night TB tried to amp up the physical play, and the Panthers matched it. Over 150 pims last night. Things got a little crazy. This is gonna be a good series.
