The best play is trading for an underutilized asset. Devon Toews style. Or signing one, like Verhaeghe. Going out and paying for past production has proven to fail over and over again. Be a smart franchise for (frank)ing once.

I'm honestly not sure what to do with it. I'm literally asking people who watch all of the league, which I stopped doing, is there a perfect defense men out there who is worthy of trading the number one pick for? How devastating could our top-pairing be if we find the right guy to put opposite 26?

At best, if we use the number one pick on a defenseman he's 3 years from being a top-pairing guy.

We might Need to continue the tank for next year.
