Did I say people said be bad, but usually to get that generalational talent you have to be bad. And why will we be bad if we lose Jack, this team proved it can play hockey and win without him, would he help sure, he's a great hockey player, but if Adams and Karmanos add the right pieces this team can win without Jack.
- Buff36

i don't think they've proved that at all.

I blame ownership ..... Eichel last year was producing at a 1.2 points per game pace.

How can you blame him for last years losing season?

- Sabretooth9

I'm not blaming him individually. I'm blaming the culture of losing.

I believe he thinks Stankoven and Cossa will be taken before the Sabres pick at 32.

They're icing a very young team. The cap hit for the team they're going to put out on the ice today is around $36 million. They are competing. Besides Thursday night, they're never getting blown out. They are making mistakes, but young players do. They also don't have anywhere near an NHL goalie. Some players are showing they're ready, others are showing they need another year in the AHL. This season might have been the best thing to happen for Adams, from an evaluation standpoint. But I think they've shown they have compete, and can hang in there, while missing very, very key pieces.

Pittsburgh is the only team that tanked outright. And just because it worked for them...well...look at the Sabres record

He totally ignores any that aspect of it, as if losing on purpose happens in a vacuum with no stank left behind on the organization or the players who get used to/accept losing.

They're 1-6-1 vs. Boston, a divisional foe. They have not proved anything. But I get your point about compete, youth and missing pieces.

I can continue to find teams that decided being bad now was great for the future and it worked.

Buffalo is extremly inept and continued to hire the wrong people and have awful owners.

Tanking and Rebuilding are the same damn thing, one just sounds better.

Find a team that won despite having awful talent and great culture.

Find a team that lost despite having amazing talent but awful culture.

It's perplexing how the team has continued to wallow in stink.
It has been a culture of losing no doubt.

That said, I do believe you can't ignore just how putrid Ownership and Management has been over that period of time.
-signing Skinner to that god-awful deal, then fvcking with him to try to remake a 10 year Vet into a defensive forward
-not securing a 2C for 2 years before trying to land a 1 year fill-in with Staal
-refusing to address Goaltending
-refusing to address the logjam of 6+ RhD's while having no RW talent after Rhino...all the while still not having a true 1RhD.
.
.
.
The list of management screw-ups fueld by Ownership that refuses to stick with a plan for more than 2 years before changing course again.

Losing culture, absolutely...let's not sugar coat those who have been selected to affect change.

Tanking is Saviour-dominant. Tanking is for losers.

That's the last I'll say on the subject.

What happens if you're just bad ? for example let's say if Jack and Sam leave That's not considered tanking just means you don't have enough talent

You're right. They just get outclassed by Boston constantly. Lot of skilled, savvy vets on that team.
