i don't think they'll give up zibby...he's a good fit for them...i like buch and one of miller or lindgren is probably the most they'd give up d-wise...i think lafreniere or kakko would be a possibility in a trade for jack...i mean, a true no. 1 center/franchise player is worth it

The rules allow it, if the player isn't healthy. That's the problem here. No one believes them and the league turns a blind eye.

Not directed at you, just the last post I have read on it.

Be mad at the NHL; 1) it's their rule that allows it, 2) they could have had an independent doctor examine it if they felt the Bolts were extending the return date unnecessarily.

I find it odd that people are questioning the severity of the injury...as if a top 5 player in the league would put his career at risk by having unnecessary surgery.

Did the Bolts take advantage of the situation afforded them by recommending surgery now versus waiting a month? Absolutely. EVERY team would do they same, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM.

It was a smart move given the stars aligned just right with a shortened and condensed season making the timing perfect.

Go Bolts!

They wont give up 28 yo Zibby but they will Laf a 19yo 1-OA?
I find that logic suspect when they are acquiring a franchise 1C.
Strome is a solid 2C and Chytil is a young C who is growing his game very nicely by increasing his production on a per game basis at 30%+ over 3 seasons.

That's my point. They consistently don't and just take the team's word for it. One giant exception when they were so embarrassed by a tweet that they were forced to, and they still did absolutely nothing. They just don't care to enforce this.

As Broads has suggested, Rantanen plus Byram is an intriguing start.

Not disputing any of that, but FL has been a talented “they’re gonna be really good this year” team since 2015. But, they always crumbled when it came to crunch time. The biggest change was adding Hornqvist and his leadership coming from a winning organization. How can you consider letting up when this guy is out there running through walls every game? The biggest change for them, even with such huge roster turnover, is their new found resilience and refusal to give up.

Barkov and Huberdeau combining for 115 points helps in 100 some odd games helps too.

Sam Bennett just didn’t become a goal scorer over night. He’s cleaning up Huberdeau’s garbage.

I see, and generally agree...

The only caveat I have is they mostly likely realize it will be nearly impossible to find another doctor on equal footing that calls out his respected peer, along with the exposure to high risk of a lawsuit if a player was forced to comeback too early.
It would have to be a clear cut case of circumvention... like 9 months to recover from an ordinary broken nose, lol.

Bolts took advantage of an opportunity knowing they would get away with it.

Zibby is a center who's much better than strome. Jack and him down the middle. They've got to give up something of value to acquire what's considered to be the hardest, or one of the top two hardest, pieces of the roster to fill. It's not that difficult really

Who is the stud on defense? The guy who went out with an injury over a month ago?
- kingcong39

Mackenzie Weegar has no name recognition but he’s playing like a top 10 d-man in the entire league this year. He had a 4 point night a couple weeks ago that won me a fantasy matchup.

He hasn’t missed a beat since Ekblad got hurt either so we know it’s not just because he’s playing with him.

Lol!

I live 40 minutes from the arena and have loved the team for 7 or 8 years.

Interesting in that before moving to this gulf side, I livend in Coconut Creek for 4 months and did give it consideration.

Probably too much time being spent on something that probably doesn't happen...but in the negotiations they would need to reach a suitable contract deal with the two before formalizing the deal.

Time to move on IMO.

If the Sabres select Beniers with their pick in the upcoming draft, do they still need a Center?

They'd have Reinhart, Mittelstadt, Cozens, and Beniers.

Do we know Reinhart wants to be here long term for certain ?

You know I was championing trading for Weegar during the break before the playoffs began last season, not that Florida would've been amenable to trading him.

The Rangers would almost have to give up Zibanejad in an Eichel deal for cap reasons. They're not going to pay their top 2 centers a combined $18M+ per year against the cap.
