I hate to burst your bubble, but with the exception of Jumbo Joe, Chara and Marleau, every player in the NHL is a millennial or Gen z

I wish Gretzky would start a 55+ league...probably be more entertaining seeing the old guys getting into scrums

Big game tonight as the excitement builds towards the Playoff match...
Florida is Lightning for home advantage.

Bolts resting Kuch, Stammer, maybe Heddy again, possibly others.
Round two tonight.

Go Bolts!

That emergence corresponded to the Granato hiring. Does he not deserve credit for that?
- jcragcrumple

He does. It also should be noted that ralph was historically bad at coaching the hockey so the bar was set very very low

Or maybe when your office is the worst performing over 10 years, the new manager comes in and gets rid of double standards and holds everyone accountable to the same standard of being the best each can be.
Maybe you'll really like that atmosphere....alot.

That isn't Torts. Torts is play veterans guy.
Get Ready for Cody Eakin to play if Torts is coach.

I'm excited as well.
But, I do think this mini two game series is all about setting a tone and sending messages...the actual PO series is probably toned down.

The Pattycake crowd is going to hate it.

Probably right, but what a way to walk into a playoff series. The hate is gonna be ramped up.

That is a knock on alot of coaches...I think the same is hung on BBQ as well.

Torts relied a ton on PLD last season and onto the PO's. But PLD endured drought contract negotiations, demanded a trade, and purposely p,aged like poop to begin the year as a way to force a trade. Torts had none of it and benched him...for he had absolutely zero to lose with a guy who decided not to play up to his capabilities anyway.

Torts is a good coach. You complained about double standards, that has been his calling card for years..no favorites, everyone held to the same standard...and he is no BS..play up to your best or sit until you do...PLD is prime example..yet you are against what you say you hated in your old boss. Perplexing.

I dont think effort was an issue except maybe Staal and Skinner. Mostly they just sucked. The young guys all looked plugged in

I've said something along this line before. The performance of this team under Granato versus Kruger was night and day, so much so that I could be convinced that Granato has earned the right to coach this team for at least a full season. However, the team still ended up in last place and was going to be no matter how poorly or well they played (I know, I know, they got close to Anaheim and New Jersey but did you really think they were going to overtake them?). There was absolutely zero pressure on either coach or roster.

This team obviously has to do a thorough coaching search, but if they can't get a "veteran" in here, I would much rather let Granato keep the job than roll the dice on yet another first year coach, or even a college guy like Nate Leaman. Tortorella, love him or hate him, would be entertaining at a minimum, but does he want to build a team from the ground up at this point in his career? I've always found Boudreau underwhelming. Not that I am totally against hiring him, but I regard him as an underachiever given what he had in Washington.

Saturday’s game was an awesome playoff intensity preview.
Hedman is out, Cooper saving him for playoffs, as reportedly Hedman will need surgery this offseason to fix whatever he’s been playing through the last month. Goodrow is out now, too. TB has to win in regulation to get home ice.

They weren't even plugged into the roster with Ralph. This is from Harrington's article today:

Tage: 13 games under Krueger, 25 under Granato

Mitts: 13 games under Krueger, 28 under Granato

Asplund 5 games under Krueger, 23 under Granato

Nothing beats expecting a call from a local area business, having the phone ring with a 716 area code, and falling for it. Another extended warranty call. Shame on me.

Just playing devil’s advocate here, but is it possible that the biggest thing Granato did to improve all of their development outlooks was simply just to let them play?
