He wants the surgery now so he is ready to go for the season on his new team

Sabres are holding off on surgery for now because the sooner he has it the sooner he is healthy the sooner his camp starts posting him skating and ready to go and then they push for a trade out of town.

Sabres want him to start the year in Buffalo and showcase him at the draft next summer if he still wants out (which he will)
