Embarrassing...
Dhaliwal reporting that after Canucks were told that Tryamkin was staying in the KHL, they spent the next 60-90 mins trying to change his mind. - VanHockeyGuy
next time you're texting with RD tell him "it's a negotiation"...
Sometimes his takes are sooooooo bad.
The agent basically said that the Canucks made an offer, it was much too low, Tryamkin decided to sign with his KHL team, and then Benning was "what, wait, we can do better" and Rick is trying to explain that it's a negotiation, you start low and work your way up...unless your offer is so low that the player (or coach) is "huh, that's what you think of my services? Ok, I guess I'm moving on".
I'm not saying I wanted to sign the big puss, just that if Benning really did want to sign him, it's just one more stupid mistake to pile on top. |

Rick D.
He's doing a show with Don Taylor now and he says some pretty stupid things. (you probably already know this, but...)
I'll try and simplify.
They had Diamond on the show to talk about what went down with Tryamkin. Diamond said that they made a presentation on a few different options, 1 and 2 year deals, that Benning made an offer that was a little over $1m, Tryamkin said no. Basically with the escrow, the increase in taxes, increases in cost of living it didn't make sense to move his family across the world for the next two years, so he signed the extension with the KHL club.
Then later, after the deal was already signed Benning came back wanting to negotiate, but it was too late.
Rick D was supporting Benning saying "It's a negotiation, you don't start with your best offer", which, yes, that's true, but you also don't start with an offer that sends people looking for other opportunities.
Feels like that's the road they've gone down with Green as well.
Anyway, couldn't care less about Tryamkin, or Green for that matter, but there is a history of bad relations between Benning and other people and to me that's an issue. |

If Tryamkin wanted to play in the NHL he would have signed a 1 year deal and went unrestricted, not sign for 3 in the Khl. Probably playing the Canucks to get a better offer over there |

Ok thanks, disagree but appreciate your perspective. I don’t think Tryamkin ever wanted to play here and he isn’t worth more than a million. Happy with the outcome. Did he mess up the negation? Maybe. Hard to say without being in the boardroom. |

I think the player got bad advice, if he actually wanted to play in the NHL. That he was up against a deadline is bizarre to me. Whatevs. |

So in other surprising news...Stamkos and Kucherov miraculously announce that they are good to go for the playoffs.

Gillis did the same with Salo in the past I think, the season right after the Ballard trade
I’m glad Benning is more honourable than that |

Just JB doing his due diligence, not much of a loss with Rathbone, Chatfield, Woo, Brisebois and that Finnish kid in the pipeline.
Classless spoiled Russian kid, good riddance |

Money talks. It's now a pattern. After rolling red carpets for other vet signings, JB is running out of time with the Tanevs, Toffollis and Tryamkins; and losing assets.

Chatfield likely a Kraken. Tree another example of poor asset management. |

Tanev was willingly let go and upgraded on with Schmidt. Toffoli was replaced by the younger and faster Hoglander |

Sbisa was an upgrade on Hamhuis and Sutter was the replacement for Kesler. Yes yes, we know all these things.
It’s still fun to dream though. |
