I really liked what Hayes brought in the first season. There were probably 10 games back then where he was a difference maker. Regardless of being overpaid, he seemed like a good second line center. Since then I really try to see the glass full. So I watched him closely last night. My lord, what a disaster. If his name were Aube-Kubel he'd be let go from the team after the game. Overtime play was like he made a bet against the team. I was speechless.

Regarding Hayes, I blame coaching for playing him in OT. What are they watching?! Hayes is not 25 or under, and has 504 regular season NHL games...More experience is not helpful. I have no idea if his injuries are making things worse this season. If so, it is even more on the coaching for his usage. |

Hayes looks hobbled to me. Either a hip or knee issue. He just seems to be laboring to get moving. Once he is moving he is fine, but his starts and stops seem off.

Patrick is the worst player in the entire league. I'm not lying when I say that as soon as I saw him taking that faceoff in overtime I predicted that the Caps would end the game on that shift. In a year that you could say most of the team has sucked(aside from a scant few) Patrick has totally SUCKED!!! Prove me wrong. |

In no uncertain terms should Patrick be on this team next season. He is easily replaceable and does not deserve a roster spot. |

I am okay if they bring him back with the understanding that he has to earn a regular spot; if he doesn’t, he sits. I don’t want them to waste a protection slot on him in the expansion draft. His QO won’t be expensive.
If the Flyers go into next season with 14 forwards and enough cap room for call-ups, it isn’t a stretch to hope he can still pull it together.
It is also possible he can be part of a package in trade, another organization hoping he will do better with a change in scenery. |

In no situation except a trade do I see Patrick not on the team next year but the fact that this is even being talked about is extremely disappointing. The number two overall pick, he’s horrible. |

You’re not far off. He has unequivocally been the most ineffective player in the league this past year for what he’s counted on to provide which is 3C production. Not even up for debate. |

To be honest, Lindblom hasn’t been much better, but the COACH has been much more protective of him than Patrick. |

I’ll be glad when the season is over! This team and organization lost its identity long ago, it’s seems as though they’re lost right from Dave Scott down through the players and everyone in between.
I think the entire management team needs to sit down and hit the reset button. Decide on a new direction instead of just throwing poop against the wall to see what works. IMO Chuck Fletcher is not the man to orchestrate a long term plan for the organization, he’s never shown that to be within his abilities as an NHL GM. |

Well said. He can play with Laughton on a prove it deal. |

Jesus. I guess I’m just not foolish enough to lose sleep over game 55, the second last game of the season, when we had no shot at the playoffs two or three weeks ago.
Frankly, I don’t really care what anyone here thinks. I’d rather be wrong about suggesting that maybe along history of concussions might still be taking a toll on this kid to this day, than to mock and dismiss the notion entirely like we’re still in the 90’s. Eric Lindros in terms of concussions was a bad comparison, why? Because Patrick doesn’t hold the same skill sets? Well, that’s weird because we literally watch Lindros go from great to dwindle down to nothing. So speaking in more basic terms, we watched Primeau, Gagne, Roenick, Pronger and Laperriere go through the same thing but still play. Nothing wrong with asking the question instead of disgracefully take joy in it. |

Yea I think we need to go young, said this earlier at least regarding the players. The playoff bubble hextall years were a disaster, just more and more mediocrity. It’s time to move some older pieces if possible and assess the young guys and move on from there . Chuck and AV most likely bought themselves another year after last season . |

On a positive note:
If the Flyers happen to lose their final game and Chicago wins both of their games in the season, Flyers move from 13th to 12th in the draft (12th to 11th Arizona forfeits their pick).
Although the Flyers could move to the 16th spot by winning.... |

No one mocks him. They see it for what it is. Who the hell sees joy in this disaster?

When Hextall took over in the spring of 2014 the team had just finished with 94 points and a first round playoff series loss. Giroux was 25, Voracek was 24, Simmonds was 25, Brayden Schenn was 22, Coots was 20, they had a good young core.
I know he had some bad contracts to deal with from the Homer years but for whatever reason he wanted to sit back and build through the draft. Those above mentioned guys were in their primes. He might as well of traded them away because collectively they’ve accomplished nothing over the past seven seasons and now they’re on the tail end of their careers.
The organization doesn’t seem to know what direction they should be going??? |

Bill, I'd be interested in your measured approach to Patricks dud of a season. We all can see his poor stats and uninspired play. It probably is going to end with "he needed a fresh start" when traded for an overall number two pick. The question is why? He came in with so much promise. |

Patrick and Fultz are a colossally amazing 1-2 punch for failure.
They just are, despite that hockey draft not being top-heavy. |

I am really hoping the Flyers can finally be "that team" that pulls a star from a weak draft for once. Flyers always want to have their disastrous seasons when drafts are meh or all over the place.
Good news is that means the Flyers are guaranteed to be a super bubble team for the next 2 years...generational players are saved for "special franchises".

Good comp between Patrick and Fultz. Drafts picks are obviously not guaranteed...in Fults case, he couldn't shoot. Then he had that shoulder issue...I had a sneaking suspicion that was a smoke screen. Patrick in his rookie year at least showed some promise...this year, nothing |
