Marc Bergevin has been at this for 9 long years, fans of the Montreal Canadiens have been waiting for a Stanley Cup Championship for 28 years now and when Bergevin was hired and told them about a 5-year plan, they were excited. 9 years later, which is to say almost 2 5-year plan later, the team is nowhere near drinking out of hockey’s ultimate chalice.
Yeah...no. Not that I insist in defending Bergevin, but this is false. The 5 year plan thing was from the Gainey-Gauthier era, and for some reason, media likes to pin that on Bergevin. He never said "plan quinquennal". |

ok but this is a matter of semantics. no one gets hired as a GM without presenting a long-term roadmap. so he had a "plan" of some kind. i don't think his closing pitch for the job was "we'll see what happens". |

that report Saturday night was depressing. they're going to use injuries/schedule/covid as a crutch. he's not going anywhere.

I think his plan derailed when they Habs were actually not that bad in the shortened 48 games 2013 season and the team made the playoffs. I think his plan was a few seasons of suckage and a rebuild à la Chicago Blackhawks. It never happened. |

No way the Habs win one of the last 2 games right? Not even get one point.
They are going to make the playoffs by the other teams doing. |

I've been saying for months Molson would either use the injuries/covid as an excuse or point to making the playoffs by the skin of their nuts in the worst division in hockey and say "progress". Not sure how anybody is surprised |

Not sure how anybody can see it differently and consider themselves a "hockey person". |

Edmonton is locked in to the #2 spot. McD has his 100 points. i can't imagine what will motivate them to go 100% in these games. depleted as they are, i do think Montreal gets at least a point in one of these games.
if they don't i honestly hope Calgary sweeps Vancouver.

ya maybe but i just think that naturally when you have nothing to play for your guard will be down. saw it from Toronto on Saturday, even though they technically hadn't clinched first. the Leafs were absolutely asleep until that ridiculous Engvall goal. |

because going back a month or so, this team was healthy and terrible. the only guy out was Chiarot and Montreal was losing more than they won. but definitely now the injuries have been extensive enough that they can fool themselves into believing that things would have been different otherwise.

The #Habs have four draft picks to sign by June 1st. Kieran Ruscheinski (7R-2019), Joni Ikonen (2R-2017), Raphael Harvey-Pinard (7R-2019), and Jacob LeGuerrier (5R-2019).
Probably only one of these players will get an entry-level contract.
I think it's obvious it's Harvey-Pinard |

I just mean I view Molson as an empty, wet suit. Whatever he can do to maintain status quo and not rock the boat he'll do and he'll use whatever excuse available to do so |
