That's not a deal breaker for me for an A-list prospect. - DrMidnite
absolutely agree - if it brought a Jones or Eichel. But if we are just looking at the player there was nothing from Myers this year that would make me set him above Sanheim. |

AV kept telling him to shoot the puck as hard as he can then either miss the net or hit an opposing player. - Glak18
Haha oh yea! Felt like he didn’t hit the net for an entire season |

That was pretty clear from his short time here that York understands that you just need to get the shot through. I honestly believe he will be on the team next year, he’s clearly mature beyond his years and is much closer to a complete player now then a Myers/Sanheim were when they joined the team |

I think many people here are really deluded on what they think is going to happen this offseason. Best case scenario is that JVR gets claimed without us having to sweeten the pot. Giroux is not going to waive his NMC. If by some miracle you can trade Voracek you will be taking back a player who is not as good as him for about the same cost, in full salary or that salary plus what is retained.....
We have to hope that Fletch fills the top pair d spot and that our young players including Hart (Frost, Lindblom, Patrick, Allison, York etc)have better seasons than they just did. It is what it is. - MBFlyerfan
Fletcher already alluded to major changes. A few tweaks aren't going to suffice.
This year wraps up a decade of garbage, bringing back the majority of this core and hoping for different results would be stupid and irresponsible. |

I’d offer them Coots and TK for Eichel and Ristolainen. - hereticpride
I would not offer that if I were the Flyers. I think the Sabres would jump at it and why not, it would be a steal for them. If I had a choice between a healthy Couturier and Eichel, I pick Couts every time. |

And would get Fletcher and AV fired when the same thing happens next year. You are absolutely right, we should expect big changes this off season. |

That is why I am proposing to bring a new veteran core, players like Ekholm and Foligno, to provide new voices in the room. G is still a good player and is a leader by example for the younger players. If we can bring in players like Foligno who have been captains before, that hopefully will provide new locker room voices and a new attitude. - jd250
I hear you, but honestly I'm ok with Couturier or Provorov being those voices. I understand it's impossible not to have a team void of guys in their 30's but I don't want them here solely for off ice stuff. Hopefully they can provide some skill on ice.
The players you brought up can do that, I just don't want it would take to get them. Especially Ekholm. |

Missing the playoffs next year would certainly be the end of both Vigneault and Fletcher. |

All the players I mentioned, Foligno, Larsson, Raanta/Dubnyk and Schwartz will cost nothing by money. Ekholm will require a hockey trade but you have to give up something to get something. |

ghost had a decent season and on a team with the right mix, playing with confidence he would look even better. Add in you could retain salary. Ghost at 2.250 cap hit has real good value. He is top 8 in goals for D, that includes being waived, sat, suspended and misused. - wcorvette
Can we please not retain any of Ghost’s salary. Please. |

This year? Probably. I want a Hughes on our team, everyone else has one. - DrMidnite

Is there any team that is a better fit for Eichel? Not too many other teams ready to blow up and dump players. If, and it's a big if, Seattle takes either JvR or Voracek, with or without a sweetener, I could see us offering Buffalo at least as good at anyone else: Sanheim, 1st round picks, whoever. I know the Rangers are the favorite, but seriously, Eichel just said he's never playing again for Buffalo. And he's badly damaged. The price came down. I see us and the Rags as the frontrunners. Eichel, Coots, Laughs and post-gym Hayes down the middle. |

I like the random shot of the guy typing in his living room.
It’s pretty much like you said, I mean in his comments he’s separating himself from the organization. The reason why I would go after Eichel, elite talent side is, I still believe in Provorov to be a top defenseman in the league moving forward. I think going after Seth Jones says different by the Flyers. There isn’t a single forward that I believe can be a top ten offensive producer on this current roster. |

Can we take the latest tweak in the CBA (last year) re: retirement recapture penalties to put together the following deal for Giroux: 8 years 24 mil, AAV 3 mil, structured the following way:
Years 1-3: 6.33 million salary paid each year.
Years 4-8: Veteran min (about 800 k for 5 years apiece).
Handshake agreement: Giroux retires after at least 5 years and no earlier. The cap recapture penalty is limited to AAV (3 m) years 6-8, by which time the salary cap should rise by way more than that, so we essentially get 5 more years of Roo at 3 mil a year after which it is as though he is off the books.

I dunno, I've been watching this team through 6 decades (gulp!) and I've seen them blow up the team 1.5 times: once for Lindros (totally understandable at the time) and the half time when they traded Richards & Carter and there were other reasons behind that than just a hockey trade. I think those of you that expect all these major changes this off-season are going to be very disappointed, but I guess only time will tell. |

You felt like they blew up the team post Lindros? I felt like they basically replaced Lindros with Roenick after Lindros sat. I felt the big blow up came after the Roenick/Primeau era and as you stated the Richards/Carter era. |

Agree. Lindblom has to be a shoe in for the Masterson this year. He deserves it.

I agree with this. That’s why I think their priority is to get a solid 1B who can step in if Hart falters. They aren’t going to risk their futures banking solely on a Hart comeback.
I’m also hoping that tomorrow we don’t get the old “Everyone, management, coaches, players all share the blame.” This means nobody is blamed and we shouldn’t expect more than tweaks. Some moves are obviously easier to make than others. But with the PP and PK being so bad I really have a problem with bringing back both of the ACs. |

For the most part things coaches and GM's say in the media is just lip service.
The fact Fletcher put it on record that there will be major changes means he has no choice. |
