Question: if Leafs make it past the 1st round and play the Oilers in the 2nd, do we bring back Kadri to take McDavid out?

Play Matthews head-to-head against McDavid, freeing up Nylander to win the series.

Matthews and Marner are definitely the answer to McDavid. The more time he spends in his end the better.

Working on our playoff preview for EH, and it's kind of funny how much better COL's EV metrics are than every other team. Based just on Team RAPM EV metrics, I think the top 4 teams in the playoffs this year are:

1.) COL
2.) VGK
3.) TOR
4.) CAR

No love for TB, they’ll be tough if Stammer and Kuch are healthy.

besides the Avs, the 2-10 spread is pretty small, adding kuch should bump them up for sure

Don't worry I got this. Ahem.

Leafs are skilled but they don't have the willpower or the tenacity to play playoff hockey. They won't win a single game floating around against a team that knows the value of hard work and can play a grey area grinding playoff style. They win exactly one game in the first round. Also goaltending.

But after that: News Flash... the teams you play in the conference finals and stanley cup finals are PRETTY GOOD TEAMS

Doesn't matter who they face between Montreal or Winnipeg, Leafs will be the heavy favorite in this series.

There's not much argument about the Jets being able to turn things around in a week to overcome them imo.

Montreal has one glimmer of hope imo. They will get a much needed rest after a completely insane schedule the past month and a half and should get a rested Price and Weber ready for the playoffs?

And if Price plays like he did last playoffs, anything is possible.

Will it be enough? Odds are it won't.

But the hope remains.

I tend to agree. It all depends on that first series. Can Tampa win against Florida and give the injured guys time to ramp up and get back to speed (and can they get there at the most ramped up time of the year without injuring themselves in other ways)? Florida is playing great, but it is just their second time in the playoffs in 6 years. They played great with a 5-2-1 or BETTER record against everyone they played except Carolina (who they had a losing 2-4-2 record against).

Tampa's only losing record was against Florida, but they don't look like the same explosive team this year. No one is a PPG player, which is surprising. Not Point, not Stamkos . . . even Hedman has put up good point numbers for a defenseman, but he hasn't been as good this year.

Tampa feels like a team that was always going to make the playoffs, but their league position was buoyed more by Vasilevskiy's play than anyone else on that team.

Florida, meanwhile, had Bobrobsky start the lion's share of games, and was arguably below league average in his play and still posted a 19-8-2 season.

It's hard to bet against the Cup champs and a team as deep as Tampa, but they don't look like a team that's winning against Florida.
