Habs fans expect to see their team get destroyed in the first round but all hope to see the team from the first month of the season. We really have no idea which team we will see and what shape they will be in. We know Weber, Price, Gallagher, Danault and Byron are rested but are they 100% recovered, who knows.
- Symba007

Might as well say they are sill injured and sit them all so the habs have a better excuse for losing.

nah, Weber didn't get that stick modified for nothing, he's got some arms to break.

The biggest fear Leafs fans should have in the health of their team after the 1st round. Should be a physical series, Habs will try to trap them and be very physical.

anything short of the conference final is a failure for the Leafs
- Symba007

Yes, it puts them in a bit of a no-win. If they come out of the North, it will be because the North is weak and Covid and reasons. If they don't, it will be a failure.

On the other hand, too bad. This team needs to put on their big-boy pants in the playoffs at some point. Champions need to learn to not get crushed by expectations.

I would be surprised if he plays at first, with everyone but Drouin expected back, he will be watching the games with the taxi squad this year

Does it matter? Can the team truly have success without a single Quebecois on the roster?

who knows, he might be right, he might be wrong and come to regret it.
- Symba007

He has been an average goalie the past 4 years.

Some people are clinging onto good times from him.

He'll do alright, if the last 4 years offers any trajectory he wont be awful but he wont be good either.

I think the Ontario market pushes this as an issue...Maybe the organization and the outskirts of Quebec cares a bit bit in the city of Montreal I doubt they give a (frank)

Honestly, I'm not so sure.

It's a different city now with the Raptors being so popular. They've taken the interest of a lot of the younger crowd.

My daughter says the Raptors are more popular at her high school than the Leafs.

- Atomic Wedgie

Yeah right.

Look around this summer and look at everyone rocking mullets...We will see who has a larger influence on the younger crowd

Doesn't he have a concussion? He could be out a few days or a month. Near impossible to tell this early.

There will be a lot of little Auston Matthews running around...dont think they will get the same action as he does though

yes, he has one, word is it's not a severe concussion, they expect he will be back on the ice early next week once he is done with the 7 days protocol. Players heal fast come playoffs time, it's somehow magical.

There's still part of the population/fan base that gives great value to having local players on the team.

Especially the older generation who saw the team win with plenty of Québécois in the 70's.

Hell even in cup winning team of 93 had plenty of local players on the team, playing big roles to win the cup.

It will remain an issue they need to consider, it's just diminishing with time.

Fun fact, they make all the fuss in the world about needing a french speaking coach and the best one they ever had was Scotty Bowman. And despite being born in Montreal, the guy barely speaks french.

I just hate when players play not healed from a concussion.

Friend of mine played in the NHL and they forced him to play with concussions...he is paying the price today and hes only in his mid 30s.

if the Habs win, this trolling will last.....A LONG TIME. Not by Scabeh and I but like the Leafs abysmal fanbase, we have our fair share of trolls.
- Symba007

Well sure, but I don't care much about your trolls

It will be a lot more than just Habs fans trolling. Sens and Canucks fans need something in their never-a-championship-in-any-major-league-sport lives.

Danault is a pending UFA, he will want to play, it's his big payday.

I feel its the same as the "good ol Ontario boy" argument. Its mostly the older crowd that actually cares about this.

It definitively is dying. I mean its nice to see a hometown guy put on the sweater and win...but its also cool having a person coming from a different culture experiencing and loving your own culture.

We'll see...all players have different views on it. If he wants to be smart and is thinking about playing out his entire career he wouldn't.
