Just checked the sked - Florida plays Tampa Bay tonight - final game for both teams.
It's a battle for home ice advantage in the first round.
Should be a good one to watch. - Atomic Wedgie

Trying to figure out when to do mine but nervous with Leafs/Jets on Friday and potential injury.
Does anyone know if the playoffs are actually starting saturday or is that just EK talking poop? - poopstash
I think the NHL said not until at least the 20th. |

We are happy with anything that puts a further barrier in front of the Lightning. |

This is perhaps the stupidest thing you've ever posted on Hockeybuzz, and that's really saying something.

I know we've all had fun watching Habs fans sweat it out (let's be honest, they were probably already disgustingly sweaty to begin with), but the time for this fun to end has come.
We need Montreal to take one measly point tonight, so that the NHL can set their playoff schedule - and not have the North start a week after the other divisions. - Atomic Wedgie
When Edmonton got McDavid his 100th point, that was their cup. They are in 2nd and not moving. I don't even know why they'd play Smith and risk injury at this point.
Play Koskinen, rest Smith . . . who cares. Montreal also plays Edmonton well.
But if they lose tonight and Wednesday . . . man. There is no worse way of backing your way into the playoffs than that. |

Don’t they just a need a point or have the Flames or Nucks lose a point by Friday? They’re scheduled to play Edmonton on Friday. I assume all games happen and that once they’re both out, the Nucks and Flames can play their games while the playoffs are underway, if they are eliminated. If that’s the case, it just needs to happen soon and then determine who finished third and fourth.
Is there another way? |

Hedman/Kuch/Stamkos hurt. Vasi needs to be healthy for when it matters. Seems more like the AHL vs Florida Bengals - AdamFrench
I mean, FFS, adult female Florida panthers weigh 29–45.5 kg (64–100 lb), whereas the larger males weigh 45.5–72 kg (100–159 lb). Total length is from 1.8 to 2.2 m (5.9 to 7.2 ft) and shoulder height is 60–70 cm (24–28 in).

Yes. Magic number for Habs is one.
They need to take one point. If they lose both in regulation, either Calgary has to win all their remaining games, or the Canucks have to win all their remaining games.
Canucks have no chance.
Flames is a little more interesting.
If Montreal loses both to Edmonton (entirely possible), then I would bet the Flames will win all four against Vancouver. |

Montreal has 2 games left and need 3 points to finish third.
Also Winnipeg would have to lose all three of their remaining games. |

It's a really bad situation in Buffalo.
I mean, I know they are division rivals and all, but the Buffalo fans don't deserve this much poop.
Although I will say this: the Pegula era is still miles better than the Ballard era.
And I don't think many Sabres fans had much sympathy for us through those dark times. |

No, I get that. I’m talking about when playoffs start. I assume all teams play all their games. If the last 3 Canuck-Flames games are meaningless, do we assume they are play while the playoffs are underway? |

Quick answer: we don't know.
Lots of speculation, but no definitive answer.
I can't imagine that the NHL would start one division a week after the rest, but hey, this is the franking NHL. |

Also, if we win our last two games we could end up seeded second overall and I think no lower than fourth. Would be helpful depending how first two rounds go, said in a completely non-jinxing way. |

Pretty sure division winners seat 1-4 so they can't drop to fifth based on points. |
