If Buffalo brings in Torts, I am officially done as a Sabres fan. Done. They couldn’t get him out the door fast enough down here in Columbus and there is a reason why.
Get used to another 3 years of trashy, boring hockey in Buffalo if they really do this.
Granato earned the gig, IMO. - BeadyEyedDouche
EK broke it. Slapped an E3 on it. Rest well my friend, it’s not happening. |

Don’t be shocked to hear that Eichel’s “upper body” issue is not physical. He has other reasons to want out. Kim will screw it up either way. |

Not exactly the carrot to dangle if Eichel isn't happy either - TheMussel
Unbelievable. I didn't see any of the exit interviews but I heard Eichel's was basically "To Wong Foo, Thanks For the Memories" |

Well that’s just racist calling Kim that... |

Ok, so this comes from some really solid sources...
Garth or mark or whatever the hell he goes by now is not a real source - westcoastleaf
Could it be Tanner he was referring to as a solid source ? |

If Torts goes to Buffalo, I wonder if he pushes the GM to trade Skinner for Tyler Johnson. I'm sure Tampa won't mind adding an extra $4M cap hit for way more years. Sounds like that trade was brewing at the deadline already. - Kooleus
One thing is for sure, Buffalo hiring Torts would be a certain way to get Skinner to waive his NMC. I could just imagine a press conference with Torts: "So far Jeff has earned 0.000001% of his contract. He has a long way to go." |

Blow it up and give Torts the reins on a group of young guns for 3 years. Then, start adding older guys to fill certain spots. A couple of problem contracts for Davidson to deal with, and he'll need to draft well. I dunno, but it sounds like it could work. It would certainly bring some structure into a fresh core.

According to a trusted source Davidson (just let go by the NY Rangers) and Tortorella (parting ways with Columbus) may indeed be teaming up in upstate NY to take on the rolls of President and Coach of the Buffalo Sabres....
Sounds like a terrible idea for Buffalo. Gorton on the other hand would be smart pickup for the Sabres. |

Nothing will change until they hire professional hockey people to run the organization.
But that’s the issue. No top professional hockey person will join the Buffalo Sabres without autonomy to make decisions.
Until they get rid of Kim Pegula’s influence and the club’s penny pinching ways (gutting hockey ops dept), nothing will change.
The strategy of hiring inexperienced people who will will work cheaply and ask few questions has yielded predictable results. |

FA’s are all knocking on the door with that duo. I bet Taylor Hall comes right back after his run with Boston once he sees Torts. I expect Torts to be on the sidelines for a while |

No established hockey guys will go to Buffalo knowing they'll be out on the street in 2-3 years.
And if they do, it'll be 2nd - 3rd tier guys and it'll still cost the owners .... kinda like paying Krueger $3.75 mill/season.
Based on the latest yard sales the Sabres have had over the past couple of years to save on $$, the cycle of losing will not change. |
