You would think that Tatar, Danault, Gallagher is a lock for one line (assuming they are all healthy). I think this game (and the times earlier in the season they played together) shows that Lek-Evans-Byron should be a line.

Question - what are the other 2 lines?

And not to keep harping on how bad Staal is... most of the time I only notice him for getting thrown out of the face-off circle. But tonight, I laughed my ass off when he got knocked on his ass by a simple shove and just sat there for like 5 seconds before even moving, even though the Oilers had the puck in the Habs zone.

I think Staal and Perry are on the outside, when the playoff starts, assuming everyone is healthy.

I do not think Drouin will ever play for the Habs again.

If it’s an issue with pressure on playing in MTL I agree otherwise we cannot be sure but if he can bring his head out of whatever he is in and come back better that would be welcome

I think they should be out but i’m not sure they will be out unfortunately. Ducharme would earn a lot of respect if he did scratch them but not sure if Bergevin isnt the one calling the shots...

Bill Daly on when the playoffs will start in the north division: "Our current expectation is that we'll play out the regular season and that the playoffs in the North Division will not officially start until after the conclusion of regular-season games in that division," Daly said Monday. "I would assume that would be very soon thereafter. It could be the same day."

Imo Perry I can see being clutch in the playoffs, Staal can (frank) off. I don't care what he was promised, he makes Drouin look like a superstar. I think Perry should stay and Staal and Drouin sit. Anyway I have a hard time getting excited with this team limping into the playoffs... it doesn't look promising. They got their big 3 win streak and haven't brought a 60 minute effort since. I wouldnt be surprised by Toronto in 5. 6 at best.

Please remember these last 10 games when debating resigning Lekhonen next summer. He has dialed up his intensity now that the playoffs are close. He is scoring consistently in addition to his tenacious defense.

Staal and Perry will contribute more in big boy games the Habs will see in the semifinals/finals should they get there. BTW, Perry has been very productive most of the season. Great signing.

My money is on the 19th (day the last game in the north division regular season will be played) or 20th, that’s pretty much what Daly said and the league is aware that the Habs hd heck of a last month because of the Covid scare while the other teams didnt (aside from Vancouver but they are not making it). So yeah, playoffs in the other divisions will start from Saturday (Bruins vs Caps at 19:00 already confirmed and I know i’ll be watching) but the Habs will get their rest.

Lehkonen does have a knack for elevating his game when it matters the most, the fact that it doesn’t always translate on the scoresheet can make it easier to forget it though. He’ll be an RFA this summer and I’m guess MB (yeah he’ll prob still be there according to the rumours) will do his best to sign him at a reasonable number. While he doesn’t score much, Lehky is always giving his all on the ice and trying his very best. It’s no surprise really that he’s Gallagher’s best friend on the team, both have a great work ethic and put the team first

Agreed that Perry has been a great depth signing there is no doubt about that, but his speed is an issue which is quite obvious when you put him on a line with Staal. Unlike Staal though, he has found a way to adapt his game and remain useful in a different way. His net front presence has been key all year, he’s not scared to get his hands dirty and he battles hard. he’s also got some great hands and he uses them so well in tight in front of the net. Also he was a force for Dallas’ run to the Cup final last year and there is no evidence that he couldn’t be for the Canadiens this year. 2021 Perry has evolved and changed his game to remain relevant while 2021 Staal hasnt and shouldn’t be anywhere near making the line-up.

Ooooohhh that one! Well, I wouldnt have guessed with the lalalas but yes, it’s a good parade song. And it’s kinda weird to be listening to a marching band at 4:00 AM but when you can’t sleep, it’s one way to pass the time...as Tony Soprano would say watcha gonna do lol

Is he the one to come out when Gallagher is ready?

Oh and Danault? Cant break up the Evans line now and can't take Caufield out.... could Armia sit? Maybe Kotkaniemi? Unfortunately....

if Quebec wants French players...perhaps they should do a better job at keeping their teams in place....see Nordiques.

It was reported MB guaranteed Staal he wouldn't be a healthy scratch as a condition of him waiving his NTC to come to MTL. If true, I'm a believer you have to be a man of your word or face the fallout from it forever. Staal isn't leaving the lineup unless MB literally thinks he has no other option

Habs' stats without Staal, without Staal taking out the season's first 10 games and finally, with Staal:

Sans Staal : 16-9-9 (,602)
Sans Staal, mais en enlevant les 10 premiers matchs : 9-8-7 (,521)
Avec Staal : 8-12-1 (,408)

The man should be asking to sit himself.
