In the bubble, he was at the hotel with his teammates everyday and meals together. In this season, he was alone in his apartment. Very different circumstances.

I don’t know if it was brought up, but Fletcher mentioned the number of Covid cases that the team plus taxi squad dealt with in the last few months. I thought he said 20. He also said there was some right before the season began.

To me this is pretty significant since I think I could only guess about 10 of them. That fact that there was twice that many and confirmation of some right before the season started is something to think about.

Excuses and more excuses.

This does not need to be brought up. He should simply say they weren’t good enough and the whole league dealt with Covid issues. I don’t care about 20 cases some dating back to the summer

Did you know that 20 of our guys had Covid? I said nothing of excuses. Facts are facts.

So the younger guys were hit harder with Covid than the vets who performed reasonably well?

I think Myers will be fine. He has all of the tools and this was his first rough season after playing well up to this point. Lets call it what it is - growing pains - and stop with the covid excuse for why players were not playing good enough.

I’m terrified the team is looking to shake things up by moving out players like Myers and konecny instead of the older vets

It’s not like they gave the 20 names and who was most affected. Vets...Hayes? Laughton? I don’t really know.

On the positive side, I hope the answer, based on today’s presser, is no way. I do realize that they need to revamp the defense corps so up to 2 guys might not return. I certainly hope they keep Myers. He has been better than he showed this season and there is less RHD in the system as it is.

I am not sure if you are joking. I can’t get the sound to come on your clip.

Hart said it himself today at his press availability. I’m paraphrasing, he said he lives alone and it was living only going to the rink and back to the apartment. He also said towards the end of the season, players were having him over in the evenings for dinner and that helped.

I think we can count on ghost not being here. Whether that be via Seattle or some other trade. I’m not sure what the other change would be. I agree in that I’m not selling low on a player like Myers

We didn't "waste years" under Hexy. We had no draft picks and were up against the cap ceiling. Ed Snyder was still alive and there was no way to go full tank. Hexy did the best he could with a real crappy hand. NoPa hasn't panned out yet...but the kid is 22. Maybe there is still hope he puts it together this off season and is a solid middle 6 guy. Heck it has taken like 7 years for Laughts to find his role.

There is still a lot of good on this team that happened on Hexy's watch. If he doesn't move Schenn there is no Farabee. Still lots of good prospects coming along too. The mix of vets doesn't quite work, but that is on the current management to get right. JVR is earning his money right now. Hayes, not so much this year. This really falls on Fletcher, because without Hexy, there really would not have been many moves to make. We have some young and tradeable talent, it is only there because of Hexy and the moves he made to get more picks, not trading them away on rentals.

He missed on NP, there were better players and he stubbornly ignored his scouts.

It was written (I know because I wrote it) but awaiting layout and posting. Another is coming today. Several more, related to player exit interviews, are forthcoming in days to come.

What if they move those guys for other young players. I'm fine with TK being moved for someone more physical. We need to play stronger.

Same here, the Vets are the ones who are not good enough but take up a majority of the team's cap space. TK is a good player that will get better. With Myers I guess we will see, but I for one don't believe he will be that good because he does not use his size and shies away from contact.

I think there is more concern trading a young player for a vet 28 or older. I also don’t want to lose elements in trade that are already an issue like 2-way ability, shoot-first, and speed.

I hear ya, but realistically, we aren't moving G, Hayes, Couts(unless for Eichel) or Jake. So, it doesn't leave a lot of options left. Hopefully we can move JVR. But we do need a different skill set and need to get stronger, and a good RH D. Even if we have to move provy to get it. We have an abundance of LH D. I think a trade of TK for someone a little bigger that can win some battles would be huge, like a Reinhart.

If somehow we can unload Jake, would give us a lot of money, but would also lose a lot of production that needs to be replaced.

Moving Provorov to get a good RH D?? Are you serious? That would be like cutting off your nose despite your face. They have NO defenseman on this roster currently that have shown that they are capable of being the #1 left defenseman. Yes, perhaps they have an abundance, but none good enough. Thanks!

I personally think that the forward issues are both harder to fix and less of an impact issue. They could do something of a tweak by replacing NAK with a bigger physical, battle forward who can PK well.

I think the revamp of the defense is most important and will involve a really tough decision about who to build around. It is a fit issue, we may lose a very good young defenseman in order to optimize the pairings.

IMO, Provy stays. He is a durable, minute-munching, balanced defender. He can PK, 2PP and OT. Has an above average shot.

Part of me is ok with making some tweaks but nothing drastic. I think we can assume one of Ghost or JVR is being taken by Seattle (and hopefully we don’t need to dangle a pick to do so). With that cap either pursue a top 4 D-men or you dangle our 1st rounder + to land a true partner for Provy. I know we’ve had years of mediocracy but I think we all felt last season was a truly different team and an on-ice product we hadn’t seen for years. I have a hard time believing everything we built last year was just completely wiped or erased. I know every team had to deal with Covid and be away from their family this season, but at the end of the day hockey players are only human. While I’m frustrated with this season, I am relatively confident we will bounce back. Yesterday Giroux mentioned he will have a Private 1 on 1 with Chuck to discuss what he thinks the team needs. I can’t say I’ve heard G ever do this or mention anything like this. His patience is running thin with Father Time. I hope AV can swallow his pride when he reflects for however long and realizes he’s gotta let his buddy Therien go.

Doesnt matter, to call the player that led the team in points a "disaster" is complete nonsense, regardless of how you feel about his attitude or defensive play. News flash, not everyone is a good defensive player. All teams have players that stink defensively. But if you are going to stink defensively, you should be producing points, which Jake does.
- Richieattack18

I wasn't the one who said Jv was a disaster. Being not good defensively is different than cheating defensively.
Jake is routinely over the red line when the puck is in the defensive zone. In the ozone he forces far to many passes that just aren't there.
I'm not a JV hater but qt this point he is what he is.
I wouldn't lose sleep if fletch found a suitor and traded him and got a reasonable return.

The Islanders and Senators had similar feelings about Chara...In fact when it came down to contracts, Ottawa picked Wade Redden to sign and didn't get a contract done with Chara...just saying, some of the big guys take some time to bake. Myers didn't even cost a draft pick...he costs little, and the Flyers can have the patience to see what they have in him. It is not like he is keep some other future hall of famer from playing...
