Well probably win the lottery before that and get banned with the new rules from being involved in the next one with him in it.

Isn't new rule max 2 lotto wins (1OL or 2OL) within 5 years?

Signing Vesey and believing JV will be back is a stretch. Writing off OJ is premature since he's likely protected over Chatfield in e-draft. Sutter is signing with the Flames.

That could be I haven’t read enough on it.
We’re not lucky enough to a lottery.

I’m predicting we’ll pick somewhere between 5-10 for the next few.

Tough loss, just one of those nights. Move onto the next. Newcomers look pretty good, bodes well for the future.

I'm liking the lineup more with the tryouts, much more fun to watch even in a loss

It was Chardonnay night. Some cheap n cheerful, others a little more expensive. Cono Sur from Chile and Therapy from BC. Both good for their price, and very different.

Pizza was sausage, peppers, olives and mixed cheese and the other was pesto sauce, spinach, broccoli and feta.

That'll keep the trend going. It is what it is and all that.

Though not sure how the new GM will do on striking gold or the new coach in working in the young guys.

Right good point forgot about OJ. He'll be a main-stay.

Man I can't stand some of the local radio people 😒 so pro Green but completely anti Benning, we need a new coach , period , even now with the team eliminated TG won't put players like Lind and Gadjovic in to see what we have. He's just an arrogant douche. He has not even been a jack Adam's nominee, yet people talk like he the second coming of scotty bowman.

Roll with it. Priority is better D to support Hughes especially RHD.

Why can’t the Canucks defend?
This is something that’s plagued the Canucks for the entirety of the Travis Green era. He has to shoulder some of the blame for this, but here are three reasons why I think this team struggles to defend.

Aggressive forechecking leaves them vulnerable. This hasn’t been the case as much lately, but this team has continually been one of the worst in the league in giving up odd-man rushes.
The defence lacks foot speed. Aside from Hughes and Rathbone, this is an old, slow defence.
The forwards are often caught puck-watching. This was something I noticed constantly last night, as the Sea of Granlunds brought flashbacks of the 2016-17 season.
The solution to problem one would be to find a new coach. Problems two and three could be solved by tinkering with the roster during the offseason.

Brings back the same D that is playing right now though.

The problem with the team is simple.

They aren't good enough. From top to bottom just not that good.

You guys are welcome for my expert analysis.

From the Athletic, firing shots at Aqua/the organization:

The Canucks are a popular NHL franchise in an insatiable hockey market. There is no world, not even a pandemic-ravaged world, where the Canucks should be one of the NHL’s bottom-10 spenders.

Over a generation the Canucks have constructed a conscientious brand that feels like it’s the fabric of the community in Vancouver, and throughout the province of British Columbia. There’s no way a small rump of overtaxed executives should represent the full workforce of such an organization, regardless of the financial pressures at play.

Never mind allowing the club’s amateur scouts and coaches to twist in the wind weeks away from their contracts expiring.

Vancouver’s top managers over the years have been statesmen. People who engaged the public willingly and understood their stature as community leaders, even if they didn’t always embrace that role.

Seeing a star player take to the press to blast a schedule that Canucks players saw as dangerous on the other side of a significant COVID-19 outbreak, and that the organization signed off on can’t be an acceptable standard for leadership from this organization.

Meanwhile, Canucks fans haven’t heard directly from club ownership in years. Not counting Twitter, of course, where Canucks owner Francesco Aquilini has — just over the past six months — fired an anthem singer publicly, given his leadership group a public vote of confidence, described his team’s early season form as “dismal,” and regularly celebrated wins.

The club faces some big decisions, on the coaching staff, in particular. More than anything else though, the Canucks organization needs to get back to conducting and carrying itself with some sense of stewardship and ambition again.

Is this your opinion, or did you copy paste this?

Do you think a “minor” tinker in the off season will be enough?

On point one, if the system is an aggressive forecheck then they need to reevaluate that because they almost never retrieve the puck. Maybe *some* of the players aren’t smart enough, or maybe the way they are being taught to pursue doesn’t make sense? What I see too often is the guy dumping the puck in doesn’t wait long enough. Puck goes deep, there is no pressure, the defending team is allowed to make a controlled exit, Canucks are back on defense.

It looks like they just swarm the other team, like gnats. They don't hit, it's all just flybys to create pressure and errors. I think for TG, that worked great in the AHL because you can ruffle guys feathers and cause a bit more havoc down there. In the NHL, the skill level, systems, and IQ are way higher, and it's not nearly as effective.

Not sure retaining Tanev and his 10 points would have changed much. Would rather Schmidt moving ahead at this point. Once Edler is gone and OJ slots in full time

Would rather Schmidt moving forward. Tanev and Marky wouldn't have changed much for us here and they sure didn't get the Flames any closer to the PO's lol. With every passing season with those contracts you'll see what I mean on Tanev/Marky. In reality both the Flames and the Nucks need a quick re-tool on the fly. Maybe we could swap GM's?
