Is this your opinion, or did you copy paste this?
Do you think a “minor” tinker in the off season will be enough?
On point one, if the system is an aggressive forecheck then they need to reevaluate that because they almost never retrieve the puck. Maybe *some* of the players aren’t smart enough, or maybe the way they are being taught to pursue doesn’t make sense? What I see too often is the guy dumping the puck in doesn’t wait long enough. Puck goes deep, there is no pressure, the defending team is allowed to make a controlled exit, Canucks are back on defense. - 1970vintage
It was in quotes.
I would say it all boils down to the lack of playing as a unit. They are always transitioning at different times. Someone is dumping it in and the others are standing still waiting.
The stretch passes where all 3 forwards are just standing at the other teams blue line.
If they do get speed through the neutral zone, there is a single shot that's normally wide or saved by goalie and the puck is instantly going back in the other direction.
If they do get the puck in the Ozone, they are normally going low to high and it ends up just a shot from the corner of the blue line.
The percentage of those plays are the lowest quality scoring chances. |

Brings back the same D that is playing right now though. - manvanfan
Not sure who wrote that, but ,I haven't seen anything close to aggressive e forechecking.
Also, it is not just the forwards that are puck-watching, Hughes does it all the time. |

The problem with the team is simple.
They aren't good enough. From top to bottom just not that good.
You guys are welcome for my expert analysis. - Jkuzzi

Yes, I could tell, but I figured you messed up the quote and had your comments and the quote together... |

It looks like they just swarm the other team, like gnats. They don't hit, it's all just flybys to create pressure and errors. I think for TG, that worked great in the AHL because you can ruffle guys feathers and cause a bit more havoc down there. In the NHL, the skill level, systems, and IQ are way higher, and it's not nearly as effective. - NewYorkNuck
They run this way they run that way they are confused, they are afraid.
It’s a movie quote, can anyone guess it without looking it up? |

I'd still do it lol. 20 goal floater boeser vs an upgrade at de. We're gonna have to pay Boeser 7.5 mill min to qualify him. Seems to me we need better de. I'm sure we could get Dumba plus I'd do it in a heart beat |

I've got to wonder what some players need to do to get recognition in this draft.
Johnson, Sillinger. It's like getting Newhook and Krebs. (examples)
Carson Ceulumans at 22 and Pinelli at 25. Would be steals. K'Andre Miller and Connor McMichael. (examples)
Raty, and Lysell even I would consider that 10 spots lower than they should be. |

BB has been one of the bright spots this year. We also don't score goals soooo losing BB would HURT to much. Who moves into the top 6? Yikes!

Yeah - there's some head scratchers in there for sure - For example, on mostly every list I've seen Lysell & Raty are around 10-15 but CB got them in the high 20's and the exact opposite for L'Heureux.
I'm just hoping for a Dman or a Centre

If we got Boeser for 7.5mil - that would be a bargain. He'll be 26 when he signs his next contract and is trending toward a 30 goal 65-70 point player, has shown growth and consistency while cleaning up his defense quite a bit. Those guys don't grow on trees. I agree we need to address D but not by trading BB route. |

I'm hoping for Luke H to round out the brothers on D. That would be sick!

I see many with Lysell up inside the top 10. His 3 point in 26 SHL games. That's not good. The best player to ever come out of the SHL with that low of point total in draft season is Jakob Vrana and Alexander Steen. Neither are worthy of a top 10 selection in their drafts. |

I agree Boeser is a nice complimentary player but are you willing to sign him for 7.5? Doesn't need to be dumba but a decent top 4 dman is all I'm getting at |

Schmidt was supposed to be an upgrade over Tanev. Sorry but you guys got fooled by Jim. - K-man25
He’s still an upgrade but not at that price
They should leave him unprotected if they can’t trade him |

Its a real possibility - if he actually plays D (unlike his brother) that would be a huge bonus.
Quinn is only 20 and finishing up his 2nd year, I will hold out some faith that he will/can improve within his own end. I'm certainly not writing him off yet or wishing his trade. |

Boeser is more than a complimentary player IMO. Guys like him get better as they get older because their game isn't about being the fastest guy on the ice, experience improves their overall game. To me, he is a better version of Toffoli. Kind of in between Toffoli and Stone(less physical and will probably produce at 90% or so what Stone does). His 2-way play is improving and he has one of the bets shots in the league. A better coach would probably get more out of him, especially if we had a half decent PP coach. I think in a year or two you see a 30g 80 point guy. |

I like the turnover, but where is all that money coming from? That's a lot of FAs, with only two players (8.5) coming off the books (but still needing to sign Petey and Hughes). |
