I wasn't planning on signing them to 4 and 6 year deals.

I don't think they'd be looking to sign 1 or 2 year deals

We know JB had a hard on for Sam Reinhart in his draft year, question is will he be GM when he's moved? Buffalo would make a perfect trade partner with the sh*t show thats going on there. We need an upgrade at C, why I'm hoping for Matthew Beniers at the draft. Hell I'd even go in on Risto. You need a smart gunslinger GM to pull it off. Just keep on losing games baby!
- VanHockeyGuy

I seem to recall a poster that had an endless chubby for Risto. You have to kick tires. I'm guessing either guy costs picks and prospects, maybe a guy like Miller, as the Sabres are going into yet another rebuild. I feel for Sabres fans.

There's a lot of in-between in what you are thinking is the high and low end. Find that in between and possibly you will find where those two should land and what I'm talking about.

I'd say go after Oleksiak and re-sign Hamonic - hopefully you can get those guys on reasonable 2 year deals and other than that let the kids play.

Everyone will want to sign in Vancouver for below market value and less than market term or they can (frank) off.

That my friend is how you build a contender.

Not sure why you bolded the "Armchair GM" part... that's a literal section on their site to play around with the team and contracts?

Instead of writing riddles, just say what you think? It's easier and I wouldn't have to guess. I'm assuming they'd be looking for 3-4 years at ~5 mil each. Which, as I said, at 30 and 34 is going to be adding more declining contracts to a team trying to get out of declining contracts.

The Canucks have the pieces to take a run at Reinhart and he'd be an upgrade on Sutter.

Makes sense, a lot of teams need coaches. Right now it is smart not to re-sign and to see what is out there to negotiate a higher salary.
- Retinalz

I would look at David Quinn over Green for next season. 22 years of coaching experience Quinn has at a bunch of different levels.

I read some articles yesterday saying as much. Eichel, Reinhart & Risto are all looking for greener pastures. I guess it's nice to see another franchise doing a little worse than the Canucks. Hopefully this is an off season of big changes for the Canucks.

How was your sausage party?

- Marwood

Extra sauerkrauty. Not much of a party though. Me and our old dog watching the Canucks get their asses kicked thoroughly. Wife has given up on hockey until they start winning and our Daughter only comes in to gloat that the other team is winning.

I have a friend who is not a hockey fan but whenever he comes over if I have the game on he will cheer for the other team and tell me my team sucks regardless of score

He's what Benning hoped Sutter would be. It would make us pretty solid up the middle.

His salary is about a million more than Sutter. I'd like to see it happen.

Its a real possibility - if he actually plays D (unlike his brother) that would be a huge bonus.

Quinn is only 20 and finishing up his 2nd year, I will hold out some faith that he will/can improve within his own end. I'm certainly not writing him off yet or wishing his trade.

- Brooks_Light

QH will be an absolute stud for us as will Petey. Petey's first two season were in line with Auston Matthews numbers he will be killer once he gets rolling in full 82 game schedules. Hughes D will come around.

So cap friendly doesn't say that they have 22M you went and created that. I guess I should have figured out you went and created your own team.

Again, I'm not saying they need to be the Leafs and had out 5 year deals to 30 year olds at 5M.

Hamonic and Vatanen signed 1 year deals at less than 2M.

34 yr old Russell signed 1 year 1.25

Barrie 1 year 3.75

Dillon (29) 4 years 3.9

Braun (33) 2 years 1.8M

Scandella (30) 4 years 3.275

So you don't have to guess anymore.

I would look to sign Savard to a 3 year deal 3.5-4M

I would look to sign Martinez to a 2 year deal at 2-2.75

Don't bother to say they won't get it or too much. That's my opinion, if they get more, they get more. I wouldn't sign them for more.

This is a classic edition of "stop giving those type of players that type of money/term" situation.

Martinez is clearly having a unique, resurgent season playing on arguably the best team in the league - in a contract year. He's on the wrong side of 30.

Savard has never been much of a offensive guy. He's currently -27 this year, & -8 in the 14 games since joining TB and is about to turn 31.

I Just hope they're some other teams mistake.

Yes, she might be better at it though. For example, she hates hockey but bought a Leaf tshirt to wear around the house because I hate them so much.

He is too slow. A lack of team speed is one of the biggest concerns w this team

My wife & I were having a drink in the garden and she asked "Isn't there a game on?" and I said "yes" and then we stayed in the garden.

They're both still very young guys that imo haven't come close to their ceiling. Quinn is the type of guy that's not gonna be happy with his play this season. He's gonna work harder to get better in the D zone. Hopefully they both continue to put on weight and realize that gaining strength will be key to becoming more dominant players.

Helps when you play with Shea Theodore and Pietro for the entire season.

They don't need anymore offence from the defensemen, they need defence from the defensemen.
