I guess that will stop Delia knocking on JC's door asking when his next game would be.

Stan finally started listening to me. The Hawks signed Arvid Soderblom (goalie) to a 2 year deal ($883,750).

The timing of this deal is impeccable.

- DarthKane

6'-1" / 168 lbs.

Leave it to Stanley to sign a Eurosmurf goaltender.

Talking about 2010 championship players before the game...
"This entire man’s life has been destroyed," Loggans said to WBEZ Chicago. "I mean, he was not able to function within the NHL context and… this has really ruined… his professional career. These professional athletes have to function at the top of their game at all times in order to be competitive, and these things are really debilitating."

Button has Carson Lambos going 12th and Kent Johnson going 13th. If memory serves, Wiz is high on both.

I do the vacuuming and mopping and laundry ...so it DEPENDS -and I hope he is there. He is really a gem offensively...

My head is spinning that the Hawks could hire a video guy w/o running a check on him before hand....
and after looking at the youth on that Championship roster, I still cannot figure who the player(s) were b/c all are older than Toews and Kane unless.....

Fair enough- development it is.
Gallant's opportunities will come & I doubt the Hawks or Sabres would be a job he would take so it's all a moot point

I'm Old School & would take
Toccecht- Boudreau- AV- Babcock & Q over Collitan

I'll learn to live with Stans's guy 🤦‍♂️

- Colbyboy

The Sabres maybe, but you have to be kidding on the Hawks. Just cause they're in the midst of a rebuild hasn't turned Chicago into a hockey desert where no players or coaches would dare come.

It's a silly trope that bubbles up every offseason, even more so since the playoff drought and yet European FA's still sign here and so do UFA's.

It's pretty much all already been said by Chunk, LA...others...but just cause people aren't in favor of Gallant doesn't mean that it's some sort of posters' mandate for Colliton. That said, yes, development it definitely is and I think Colliton did more than a pretty decent job given the team's outlook when the season began.

He might have had a clean record up to that point. Why does everyone jump to the conclusion that they missed (or covered up) something.

I guess my expectations for a guy with 400+ games and making $3.2M are just vastly different. In Zadorov I see a guy who is not a great skater, is a nightmare with the puck on his stick, and worst of all has no Hockey sense whatsoever. Was he better than deHaan, I would say probably, Carlsson he of 18 pro games, non-issue, Keith, no way was he better.

I understand mistakes, all players make them, but, the expectation for me is that a guy you are paying to be a 2nd pairing defenseman is not making the same mistakes as a kid with <40 games. I expect a guy with 400+ games not to make the fundamental mistakes he makes on a regular basis. Does anyone here seriously see him as a 2nd pairing D-man?

the only way Kent J makes it to 12 is if 2 goalies go which is possibly. I saw a mock were both wallstadt and cossa went in the top 10.

side note Corey P wrote about Soderblom as the 8th best UFA prospect(damir #1). has a chance in the NHL category. hockey sense is excellent, tracks pucks well, makes great reads at 6-3 never seems to break out of Technique and stays square. his concern is NHL lateral quickness.

Speaking of another button, every time I push it on Tankathon, it has the Hawks picking Cole Sillinger at 13 (Ari forfeits 12).

If Cole is anything like his father and the Hawks pick him, he'll go on to playing for 12 different teams over a nearly 20-year career that spanned from the Roenick days to the beginning of the Kane/Toews dynasty.

Here is what I wrote on his profile at Lines.com
https://www.lines.com/drafts

Best natural scoring centre in the WHL. With the Covid-19 shutdown his dual citizenship (as his dad, Mike had finished over a dozen season sin the NHL market, and his other is American.), he ended up playing for Sioux Falls of the USHL. Arguably has an elite release and a really nice shot, that explodes upon release. Gets down ice and picks his way through the open areas, using his vision to see breakdowns and create possible fast brake situations. He is able to slow the play down, survey his options when his team has numbers and create a good looks. Has a wide skating base and his spreads his frame to protect the puck with his shoulders. An excellent skater who is quick and fast, but it is the only reason that might keep him out out of the discussion as a top five pick, as the other parts of his game easily outweigh his lack of explosivenes, as he is a bull with power on those "slow" blades. Quick, fast and strong no matter what you hear any one else pushing as a deficiency. 9<---this was a dig at Pronman) Displays good vision, IQ and his quick release comes fast and strong. This also helps helps him in front and in contested areas to anchor. He plays like he is a smaller player whose now growing a lot larger body and it makes him a mid-sized impact player. Throws his weight around in all three zones. When not impacting on the offense, \his hockey IQ and physicality still are impacting the game. You might not see his name at the top a draft lists, but he is a moose on his skates, strong on his pins, initiating contact, and drives though the opposition. Plays well without the puck too, but still is a work in progress defensively. May project to a left wing in the pros. Top prospect in the USHL. The best may yet to come.

Thanks Wiz. Wow there's a lot to like about this kid. I'd be happy if he fell to the Hawks though maybe not ending up as a center...

I heard Colliton on the Score this morning talking about the biggest issue with the defense and giving up high danger chances. He said the biggest issue was being unable to transition the puck cleanly through the neutral zone and being unable to sustain pressure in the ozone.

Not sure if that is what the organization thinks of or if that is just JC.... the biggest issue seems to be a break down in structure and guys not doing what they are supposed to be in the d zone.

I get that maintaining possession helps keep the puck out of your own net. See 2010-2015 Hawks. The issue is the Hawks don't seem to be constructing a group of forwards that play possession style hockey.

Since we are are talking g 2021 Draft and bloodlines, how about Kirby dash's "little" brother or Riley's brother :
Chase Stillman
Corey’s son and younger brother of Riley who plays in the Chicago Blckhawk's system, is an impressive package of speed, skill and hockey sense. Plays for his father’s Sudbury Wolves. Corey is the Wolve's head coach. Chase received no power play or penalty kill time with the team in his first year. Displays strong puck skills, effective edging, and defensive commitment. Doesn’t over-think his offensive side, sticking to more simple offensives plays, but more than willing to cause devastation with chains of rolling forechecks to take back pucks. Has excellent lateral movement and will pull off the wall quicker than the pile. Uses tight turns in scrums and will cutaway from the opposition while gliding away. Strong recognition and defensive commitments where he picks up the open man and gets between the attackers and his goalie. Works his bags off, and plays big. His open ice acceleration and and top gear will need some improvement. A trench type player who forced more ice time on a veteran OHL club. 2020 was his first OHL season and didn't miss a beat. Was a member of the Canada’s 2021 IIHF Under-18 World Championship team.

You will find few written lines about Colton Dach, and I am thinking that is by design...the teams are tight lipped because there is potential there.

Colton Dach

Kirby’s l’il brother is a big left winger who puts hit head down and drives to the net. At this juncture isn’t finished developing his acceleration and top gear, but he gets there, and when he does, he hits and finishes his checks. He is a dominant board player who is literally able to knock defenseman down in puck battles. His puck control is also very good, and is very difficult to move off the puck. A smart offensive zone player who never throws away possessions. Effective offensively, but still in the developmental stage. He will cut sharply en route to the front and find a small space where pucks opportunistically find him. Finds pucks sneaking out of traffic. From the cycle down low, he will steam out to the post. Will shoot towards the goalie’s far side pad to create rebounds to the low slot. He is hard on the back check. Hit opponents with frequency. He will drop the gloves. Posssesses strong puck control. Still a work in progresses there is effective offensive ability but it needs to improve.

Let's not forget Mason McTavish either:
This big strong shoot-first heavy bodied centre has soft hands and a good feel for the puck on both the forehand and backhand. Cuts in and over with deft crossovers and use his heavy accurate shot when the puck comes back to him. His one-timer is a beauty, can score from tough angles, and he puts mustard on his passes. Reads his teammates and slices through coverages in and out of traffic. Plays in one gear: quick. Hard on the puck and scored impressive goals by picking the top and bottom corners of the net. Dauntless in his desire to cross through the high traffic in front to try and finish. Works as hard on the penalty-kill as he does as an attacker. Another horse =who goes where he wants and sets up and isn't deterred by defenders attempting to challenge him. Was a member of the Canada’s 2021 IIHF Under-18 World Championship team, and I cannot remember him losing a draw. A terrific two-way player who is one of the safest picks in the top half of the first round.

Some here believe that Keith wants to play forever, with only $3.5M in total salary the next two years, I’m not so sure. Don’t be surprised if he hangs up his skates.
- Angotti

I wouldn't be surprised either. They have to drop his playing minutes big time, and he may not like it , it would be tough for him to handle, I believe .
