The Flyers top five point getters this season had a combined cap hit of $28.78mil and produced 208 points. So they had a $138,365.00 DVPP.
I wonder how other teams top five scorers compare? Really trying to establish which team gets the most bang for there puck from the leading point getters. - mickel25
I just did Washington and Pittsburgh. $175,140 and $119,286 respectively. |

Avs top 5: 249 points, less than 27 mil (ballpark), less than 109,000 a DVPP (aided in great measure by Makar's ELC and Mackinnon's underpriced deal).
Here is an economist like argument: in a free market, salaries will catch up to production, and this will equalize across teams. So, the winners will be those teams where players either overperform contracts (most likely cause are ELCs and before-peak/bridge contracts). Similarly, teams where players are past peak value when contracts were set will tend to be losers. - PT21
Oilers have a $121,571 DVPP. Basically two amazing players contribute 70% of the points. AVS probably have the best DVPP in the league for the contenders.

I’m not a G hater and see his place on the Flyers all time list but we are where he CARRIED THE FRANCHISE!
I think most folks prefer a better place! - Hosher12
and that is what most see but once you actually drill down in the detail it is not about where did G take them, it is about the Flyers wasting G's prime years with sub par teams they surrounded him with.

I want more. Not more from Giroux. More from the organization. What little they have accomplished is because Giroux took them there. He can only do so much. The fact they made the playoffs in 14 and 16 is a testament to how great he really is.
Be mad at the Flyers organization for making this team into an unwatchable product. - mickel25
I’m not mad at him I just think it’s time for a different captain! He will be remembered for being one of the top scoring/ passing/ highlight reel Flyers forwards of all time. My complaint with him is his slow starts, he tries to “turn in on” too late.
I think he like to win vs hates to lose player. Hate to lose players win championships!
If Claude is your uncle, nephew or brother in law I apologize but it’s not personal I like him and see him as a big part of the all time Flyers franchise but I don’t see him as a championship captain.
Please forgive me for having a different opinion. |

I’m not sure what some expect from Giroux at this point. To me he was one of the best if not the best player on the team this year. Which at this point in his career is a problem for the Flyers. 27 year old Claude is not coming through the door. He’s past his prime. But I think our captain has held up his end of the bargain even in a horrible year like this. It’s time this organization brings in guys to take the load of the captain and get this team going in the right direction. |

I checked and you are still doing top 5. In that case, Carolina beats Avs handsomely ($93043 'DVPP'). |

That’s the problem thinking “his end of the bargin” is merely statistical. It’s so much more than that when you are the leader of the team. & underachieving, blow out losses, getting scored on first like 20 out of the last 26 games is leadership. Great he scored points for a .500 team that underachieved but he didn’t do anything else. Stop looking at points. This guy is the supposed leader. |

One of the things I notice about Giroux is how quick his reflexes still are. That skate pass was all instinct. Then, the guy always manage to evade a hit at the last millisecond. However, those no-look passes have largely disappeared. He has to lift his head up before passing now and that little hesitation means he no longer finds the open guy like he used to. |

Watching the Edmonton game, McDavid seems to coast faster than our two fastest skaters going full speed combined. It’s a shame he is going to spend his whole career in that wasteland. |

He is being wasted.
Screw EDM. They have been given EVERYTHING and despite their occasional triumphs? Are a failed, marginal, pro franchise.
Until they stumble into the next Great One.

Totally agree with what you said. I too have never been disappointed in a team as this one. We looked like legit contenders last season to this? I also don't buy or want to hear about Covid causing this because as stated every team had to deal with it. Their breakdowns and lack of basic coverage is inexcusable. It's as if they started with a new coaching staff and never practiced together all season long. They need to address a true #1 Dman. Provo isn't it. He can be a top pairing partner but he's not a legit #1 guy - Pelle31
Lets OS Makar. 10.5 for 7. |

Fine. Make them pick swaps.
Like you wouldn't want an Eichel/Coutourier/Giroux line down the middle for the next 6 years. |

Voracek is a favor, not a trade. You are essentially trading Sanheim +two 1sts + a favor for a top young signed center/
Here is something closer to what it will take:there will likely need to be one from each group here:
{Couts/Provorov}
+
{Hart/Bee}
+
{Frost/Foerster/1st}
and Voracek stays. |

The problem is thinking the captain is there to solve all the problems. All G can do is lead by example, which I can’t recall him not doing. He’s not the only leader in that room. He’s not the only veteran player. Getting scored on first is as much on the coaching staff not just one guy? I don’t think the Flyers lack leadership.....I do think they lack high end talent. I think they lack quality D. I think they lacked solid goaltending this year.
I think the GM let them down this year as did the coaching staff...I don’t look a G’s leadership as a problem. |

I covet our centers in this scenario and think our picks will be mid to late.
Not like 2 picks is the end of the world? But I hear you. |

Delusional. They’ve been getting scored on first for the last three coaches. Lead by example. Where is his defense? His forecheck? His emotion? His compete when his team is down 7-0. What about post game not saying “yeah it’s frustrating” when they slump year after year. Horrific leadership but I guess lets run another coach out of town & get a new GM
