The problem is thinking the captain is there to solve all the problems. All G can do is lead by example, which I can’t recall him not doing. He’s not the only leader in that room. He’s not the only veteran player. Getting scored on first is as much on the coaching staff not just one guy? I don’t think the Flyers lack leadership.....I do think they lack high end talent. I think they lack quality D. I think they lacked solid goaltending this year.
I think the GM let them down this year as did the coaching staff...I don’t look a G’s leadership as a problem. - landros 2
Idc if they have the worst roster in the league & loose every game you can still show up & compete & i think the fanbase is fed up with the amount of no show/9-0 games |

I just did Washington and Pittsburgh. $175,140 and $119,286 respectively. - Ftown19125
I like your idea but don't agree exactly with your approach. What I would like to know is how many points did the top 5 cap hits produce and what was the price per point. For the Flyers:
Giroux - $8.275
Jake - $8.25
Hayes - $7.14
JVR - $7
Provorov - $6.75
Total Salary: $37.415M
Total Points: 186 points
Cost = $201,156 per point.
I didn't do Washington or Pittsburgh but I bet you they spend less for their overall points. |

Lets not forget the most important part of Bills writeup.
3) Early next week, there will be an announcement of two major events involving the Flyers Alumni Association. Additionally, by the end of this week, the Alumni will donate and present an adaptive bike to a special needs child in the Delaware Valley as part of the new "Every Child Deserve a Bike" campaign. Please consider making a donation in any amount to this program. Those who donate $50 or more will receive an "Every Child Deserves a Bike" t-shirt with the Flyers Alumni logo on it. To donate, click here.
Not as many events for the Alum of late due to Covid but they are still finding ways to help. These are players who appreciate what life gave them and are trying to give back, If you can swing it, Please make a donation Although the team was a real letdown this year, the Alum always give it they're A game. Hope to see some more games shortly from them. If you have never been, Its absolutely a must for any Flyers fan. |

Team Canada roster released, no Flyers on it. - Djapana
And? Please don't tell me your point is to say none of our players are good enough to crack that lineup.

Voracek is a favor, not a trade. You are essentially trading Sanheim +two 1sts + a favor for a top young signed center/
Here is something closer to what it will take:there will likely need to be one from each group here:
{Couts/Provorov}
+
{Hart/Bee}
+
{Frost/Foerster/1st}
and Voracek stays. - PT21
I think you are way overvaluing Jack Eichel, and undervaluing the Flyers players you are referencing. Eichel is damaged goods (talking about neck surgery for Pete sake) and not a player I would trade my franchise for which is what you are doing here. The Flyers tried this once with Lindros, how did that work out for them? |

They'll likely take some money back to open up the trade market, but probably not somebody like Jake with 3-years left.
And yeah, as jd said, this is a lot more than Buffalo will likely get for Eichel with questionable health and coming off a season where he only managed to score 2-goals. It's actually gonna be a pretty tricky deal to pull off for Kevyn Adams. |

Never need it. I take a bus with a stop right across my house that drops me outside my office building. Wife walks to work. Most friends are nearby. Grocery stores are within blocks, as is everything else. When we go places, we take the train and then hire a cab/uber etc from station to whoever's home.
The key thing however is that we don't have kids. So we can pretty much pick and choose our non-city expeditions. Don't have a dog either.
I miss the tranquility of the woods, but else, why the hell would I want to go live in the burbs? To hang out in the mall? I never understood the appeal. - PT21
You, can have the city. Mostly dirty, smells bad, expensive. Ill stay out here in the rural areas where i can raise, grow, hunt, or fish for my own food. I'll take the freedom of owning a vehicle and a trailer i can go on a moments notice.
No one where i live is overly concerned if you dont have a mask on and many don't.
The neighbors look out for each other. It's quiet, the air is clean, the water is clean and not chemically purified. If i dont lock my truck not everything is gone in the morning. We actually have electricity, plumbing, running water and even internet service. |

Delusional. They’ve been getting scored on first for the last three coaches. Lead by example. Where is his defense? His forecheck? His emotion? His compete when his team is down 7-0. What about post game not saying “yeah it’s frustrating” when they slump year after year. Horrific leadership but I guess lets run another coach out of town & get a new GM - Fopa21

I just don’t think it’s on G to be the saviour. I think the roster was over rated to start the season. They have holes....I just hope they choose to try and fill them and don’t suggest this season was a one off because of Covid. With all that said I would like to see some core pieces changed. I don’t see it as a winning mix. But that’s more to do with talent then the ability to lead or not lead. |

Whose blaming one guy? Plenty of blame to go around but when you’re the captain you shoulder the majority of the blame because you are the appointed leader. Head coaches get fired by GM’s because the head coach shoulders the most responsibility among the staff. |

Again, I don’t need him to be a savior. Like i said I don’t care if they loose every game but the straight up disgraceful lack of compete loosing like 7 or so games by 6 goals or more in a single season is nothing but an utter disgrace. If you’re going to go 0 82 because your organization fielded a crap team who cares but at least show consistent effort & for the last 3 4 5 years same lack of compete issues at times |

Trade deadline next year when the Flyers are a dumpster fire again and Giroux waives his NMC to go to a contender. |

Giroux has always been a distributor. In the prime of his career, what linemates of his have been the sniper he needs? Jagr?! Really?
The Flyers paid him well, but they never really did him any favors with surrounding him with the appropriate talent in order to stay dominant as a distributor of the puck.
And despite all of that, he’s likely going to finish as the 2nd leading points producer in Flyers history.
Maybe he’s not the captain type. Maybe he shouldn’t have been burdened with that roll which doesn’t fit his personality. But who’s fault is that? |

He will also finish first in GP too sooo.
But yes i said it’s not his fault he was given the C. Poor organizational decision 100%. It’s just time to fix it |

I wouldnt blame him at all. It would amuse me if he won a Cup and Pavelski didnt. Also, all the Giroux haters on here choking on their bile as Claude hoists the Cup... that would be amusing as well. |

I'm asking this sincerely, not to poke fun at you. Have you ever played a team sport at a high level, whether in HS, college, whatever? If you have then you should know that the player wearing the 'C' is typically your best player, or at least the player that sets the tone in the locker room and on the field. I played hockey up through HS and I will tell you all of us feared our captain if we stunk out the joint that night. We would hear it after the game, and the next day at practice would be brutal. But I am glad he was like that, because he raised the bar high for the rest of us to strive to and we were a successful team for the years I played. In team sports like hockey when playing at a high level, the player wearing the 'C' matters! I love Giroux and want to the Flyers to win a cup with him on the team, however its more than time that a new player gets the 'C'. - jd250
Well said!
The captain of the team should lead by example. His work ethic, that includes preparing for the games, starting the game strong, if a goal is scored bounce back with a strong motivated shift by pressuring the other team in their zone, big hit or any other play that turns the game to your teams favor.
This team didn’t show much if any of the above from the veteran group of 28, 93, 13. The younger group can take up the slack but if the veterans are not leading the younger guys might feel like they are overstepping their roles. They shouldn’t but younger players take the lead from players that have been in the league longer.
I bet you the players, coaches, ex-players still around the team even the broadcaster have a good idea what the real issues are with this team. None of us are in that room or on the bench watching and hearing who is part of the problem and who is part of the solution.
I just hope it’s fixed this summer and we get to watch good hockey again. I miss good hockey, it was hard watching this team this year! |

What if he's the missing piece in Toronto? Leaves a franchise that hasn't won it since 75 to go to one who hasn't since 67 and gets it done.
I think the wells Fargo center would spontaneously combust. |
