I don’t think Bogo is back right away.
Speedy pairing of Dermott Sandin should be fun

I'm glad everyone else is saying what I feel about the CNE.
We took the kids a few years ago - it was well past its expiration date.
With the Ontario Line (maybe) planned to go through there, it's time to develop the area into something better. - Atomic Wedgie
You can have all that same carny stuff in a field in a small town on a smaller scale. They did in my hometown every summer, and it was more enjoyable because a zillion people didn't go. No need to take up prime downtown urban space with that. |

Funny how Doug Ford's brilliant idea was to put a (frank)ing ferris wheel and casino at Ontario Place, and yet people are surprised that he's a (frank)ing moron now that the chips are down.

We took our daughter there back in 2018 and it wasn't that fun. There were some odd, creepy people... |

I ate 4 juicy jumbo dogs, it's sodium cheat day
No more sodium until after the first round, when I headstand chug a keg of Habs tears.

My wife and I were laughing - we went on a Friday night, and it was like a giant outdoor pickup bar for kids 14-17.
The girls were all in too much makeup and not enough clothes, and to quote Bruce Springsteen, "And the boys try to look so hard." |

More ugly condos? - Canada Cup
fak dat noise
I love going to the midway.
A little pricy to get in the CNE but I also enjoy the animals and the food building.
They also had some good concert while the CNE was on. |

It was a bit of a sign of the times when they had to bring in the mounted police units to shut down the Ex every year, to the point where they even stopped announcing what time it was actually being shut down to avoid the morons causing all kinds of problems right as they close.
The closing is truly treated like a potential riot / hostile crowd perspective by the police (for good reason).
I remember as a kid how cool it was to ride the gondola ride, go to the food building and eat 'samples' of everything until you were full, hit the midway and play some games / hit some rides etc never worried about being jacked or the poop beaten out of you.
I have no kids but if I did I wouldn't let them anywhere near the CNE alone now a days, and you aren't getting any free eats, the gondola is long dead and it's just too many people in too small a space in the heat for me to even consider it.
Going to yell at clouds now. |

Per Lance Hornby
Jets coach Paul Maurice on tonight's reg. season finale: “There is almost - this is going to sound terrible for hockey - a gentleman’s agreement. I don’t think you’re going to see any late hits. Both teams are getting ready. There will be a certain amount of respect on the ice."
Pretty much what everyone expects. Just trying to get everyone out of the game healthy. - bryant
This is too funny.
I was actually going to ask the question, do "teams" (coaches, whoever) talk to each other in situations like this and agree to lay off a bit on the overly physical play. |

first game isnt for a week.
Dont think rest matters as much as it normally would.
Normally players would have 3 days until the first game. End on a Sat/Sun and start on a Tues/Wed/Thurs |

Normally fans are in the stands so you gotta play close to normal.
With no fans? (frank) it. Treat it like a pre season game. |

I hear ya, Cushie.
In the early 80s, a friend's dad had a pair of Blue Jays tickets. We went down.
For some reason, they had moved the start time from 1pm to 7 pm.
We didn't have any more money than what we had brought for the baseball game - no problem. Free food at the Food Building, lots of other stuff you could do for free (stand in line to listen to free music on a Walkman at the Sony booth, play video games at the Atari, Mattel and Coleco booths), see the dogs, take the Canada Fitness Test, all sorts of good stuff.
Good times. |
