This is too funny.

I was actually going to ask the question, do "teams" (coaches, whoever) talk to each other in situations like this and agree to lay off a bit on the overly physical play.

Maybe his announcement in the media was exactly that lol

first game isnt for a week.

Dont think rest matters as much as it normally would.

Normally players would have 3 days until the first game. End on a Sat/Sun and start on a Tues/Wed/Thurs

- Santo_44

true, also the risk factor for a nothing game. But yeah. a week is too long to wait

It was a bit of a sign of the times when they had to bring in the mounted police units to shut down the Ex every year, to the point where they even stopped announcing what time it was actually being shut down to avoid the morons causing all kinds of problems right as they close.

The closing is truly treated like a potential riot / hostile crowd perspective by the police (for good reason).

I remember as a kid how cool it was to ride the gondola ride, go to the food building and eat 'samples' of everything until you were full, hit the midway and play some games / hit some rides etc never worried about being jacked or the poop beaten out of you.

I have no kids but if I did I wouldn't let them anywhere near the CNE alone now a days, and you aren't getting any free eats, the gondola is long dead and it's just too many people in too small a space in the heat for me to even consider it.

Going to yell at clouds now.

Isn't that what you are doing now?

It's an excellent question.

My guess is there's now no conversation needed - Maurice has sent the message, and it's one that Keefe I'm sure agrees with.

Probably the boys will also have a conversation or two during warmup.

Send out two wily vets to draw up the terms of the treaty.

I ate 4 juicy jumbo dogs, it's sodium cheat day

No more sodium until after the first round, when I headstand chug a keg of Habs jizz after they beat the Leafs.

You're right my dude.. It was not a fun experience, it would have been better to just save our money and go elsewhere, anywhere really.

One other fun CNE memory:

They used to open up just the midway for a week or two in June. They even had a clever name for it: The Toronto Midway.

Me, my brother and a buddy went down to a Jays game. The rule was your ticket stub was good for one free ride on the midway after the game.

So after the game, we stood at the exit, and asked everyone walking by for their ticket stubs. After 5 minutes, we probably had 100 tickets each.

We then proceeded to hit the midway like the crown princes of the CNE.

I think we rode the Rotor 25 times.

We made an agreement with my younger daughter - if they open up Wonderland this year, I will drive them, drop them off, and pick them up at the end of the day.

As long as they don't leave the park, I'm OK with it.

HAH! I had the exact same idea... that Maurice basically made that agreement by saying it out loud, and you know Keefe is going to agree.

Wonderland is a better option.. Are they still using that as a vaccination spot for the summer?

Or he's giving the Leafs a false sense of security.

Only to pummel them hard after what they've done to Wheeler!

Only ride combo that made me feel really sick was one evening going on the USS Enterprise, then the Zipper and then the rotor

When I was in Grade 7, we lived in Bramalea. I remember going to the ex with a friend. Took the GO Bus to Yorkdale, Subway to Bathurst, and then the bus into the CNE had $15, $10.00 worth of rides and some food and drinks... we could spend a day there.

12 years old

I was obviously different time back then. I would never let my 14 year old do it now and he has a cell phone.

When I was in public school, my family went camping to Kilbear. My brother and I met some kids who we horsed around with for the time we were there.

So we made a plan to meet up with them at the Hockey Hall of Fame - back when it was still at the CNE grounds.

My brother and I rode our bikes from Don Mills down to the CNE grounds - probably about 20+ km. Met them, toured the HHOF and of course the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame, said goodbye, rode home.

Good times.

Maurice is hoping this will happen. Bad dirty Leafs beat them up pretty bad last 2 games, so he’s ascared.
