Canucks need some more intelligent hockey players. You can't be that big a slob and score 900 nhl points without a high hockey iq. Its not the 90s anymore.
Following Elias Pettersson’s season-ending injury, J.T. Miller has gotten an extended run at centre, with many fans clamouring for him to be the team’s 3C next season. The idea is a sound one, but the actual numbers scream against it.
2020-21 SEASON CORSI % (AT 5V5) EXPECTED GOALS % (AT 5V5)
MILLER WITH PETTERSSON 49.61 53.27
MILLER WITHOUT PETTERSSON 43.80 42.33
Added a bit of context is the fact that without Petey, Miller is playing with waiver scraps or pretty sad bottom 6 winger. Hogz/Boeser on the other wing.
If we go by stats, the remaining spot should belong to Zack MacEwen, who has posted decent underlying numbers this season but can’t seem to get out of Travis Green’s doghouse. MacEwen currently has a corsi of 47.53% and an expected goals percentage of 47.57%, which rank sixth and fourth, respectively, among forwards who’ve played over 100 minutes at five on five this year.

Would it be better if he was playing with Boeser and Sutter? Or Rous? Or Ferland? Or Beagle?
Because those are the guys who are injured (aside from Pettersson)
Could have had actual NHL players like Bärtschi and Eriksson in the lineup.
Agree with your next post however. I was a long time “Green isn’t the problem” guy, but Makita and Marwood have won me over.

Sutter sucks any offence out of anyone so no.
I'm not sure what's with Green and his doghouse. It's almost a pettiness on why he won't reward players or holding a grudge against Baertschi.
I understand he wants the players to play a certain way if they aren't superstars, that doesn't make them better or allow better players to play. It just shows a coach with limitations.

Harkins with his 1st for the Jets tonight. That was a kid I was hoping the Canucks could pry loose at the deadline for a rental a few years ago - though he had bottom 6 potential. Hardly gets in for the Jets, guess I was wrong.

Harkins had some injury trouble to start the season. Only 23 years old, he has time still. If he goes on waivers next season, I hope JB would make a claim for him.
He had a mature game in Jr that probably hide the fact that he didn't really have the tools to elevate his game at the next level.

I still don’t think Green’s the problem, but it won’t break my heart if he’s gone. The roster’s like Kettle Valley: 30 different SKUs, no identity. And aside from a few stand outs, a lot of overpriced bottom sixers.

Who is everyone's favorite playoff underdog? If Hedman is hurt and at 70%, i kinda like Florida. I want the habs to win just to enjoy the meltdown. I'm calling a Carolina and Colorado final. I just think TB is too nicked up, even though they are the best team (as i said the lastbthree years) imo.

I said Toronto v NYI in an old time battle. Defense wins championships, Trotz is the master.
Fla, Washington, Carolina, NYI, Leafs, Jets, Avs, Knights in round 1. That’s two upsets I guess?
