WAR is the most worthless stat in hockey. No idea whether he has been good but WAR Is an excellent baseball stat that simply can’t translate to hockey - CanuckDon
I agree. Plus/Minus is a much better stat for hockey.

Canucks have won 17 playoff rounds in 49 years, SJ Sharks have won 20 playoff rounds in 28 years and Anaheim Ducks have won 16 playoff rounds in 26 years.
It must be great owning a team in Canada, you don't have to put a winner on the ice to make money. - A_SteamingLombardi
True Story. Leafs have done fu*ck all since 1967 and are worth over a billion.
Apparently Tanev had a good year according to Flames fans but I for one was ecstatic when he left. It’s a miracle he hasn’t broken down yet for them. - CanuckDon
Ya, it sucks having a defenseman that makes his partner look better.
Everyone knows my opinion on the ineptitude of the Canucks coaching staff, but I also feel the team is playing to get the coach fired.
Yes I know the players talk as if they adore Green, but their playing style certainly looks like they have given up on Green. - Makita
If it wasn't for the extenuating circumstances, aka excuses in hater speak, then that observation may be more accurate.
Players thrive with stability. They're probably annoyed at not knowing who to impress now. This uncertainty with regime change is rippling throughout the club.

I was fully on team "trade Tanev". Even without trading him, I'm fine with letting him go. I can't (frank)ing stand that Benning wanted to bring him back but couldn't afford it because he would have had to "move money" to do it. Of the three guys who walked Tanev was really the only one I wanted back but I'm certainly not angry about it.
For example, if it was Schmidt IN and Tanev resigned then I think the D would have actually been pretty good this year, especially if they had still gotten Hamonic for $1m+.
Hughes Tanev
Edler Myers
Schmidt Hamonic
scrubs from Utica and OJ
order them however you like, but that's not too shabby.
I'm just not a fan of the day to day management approach. If you know you aren't bringing a guy back then do something about it.
