It's not that simple, TJ.
Kuch was clearly ready to be back in games well before the end of the season. He was practicing with the team 2 MONTHS AGO!!!
And, knowing Kuch could be playing, and with Stamkos's $8.5M in the IR as well, they went out at the deadline and traded for players that took away any and all flexibility they might have had to get them back in before the playoffs.
You're right that Kuch had a legitimate injury and no one can give 100% irrefutable proof that he could have played.
That is why they should just keep the existing salary cap rules to be complied with right through to the end of the playoffs. How can it be any more complicated than that?? They players already play them at their current salary. It's not like they can demand they should get extra compensation. - Tonybere
Was he in game shape tho? Believe me I’m not trying to apologize for them. They got a one yr pass, is it really that big of a deal? They’re gonna pay the piper next year anyway

For arguments sake...if Dorian turned down Chytil Buch and one of our D prospects for Norris...he’s a cookoo bird. He gets a top 6 winger, a top 9 center and more than likely a top 4 dman...man we’d be crazy to do that actually now that I think about it - Slimtj100
Problem is Buch is due a big raise in another year and Ottawa doesn't pay players so he doesn't interest them
Norris is way ahead of where Chytil is right now so that is a downgrade.
So basically doing it all for a D prospect?
Just doesn't make any sense from there end |

It is if they win the Cup!!!
Why should they get a free pass when every other GM in that situation for a 20+ years has had to have guys clear waivers to send them down and bury salary, or trade away someone they want to keep, in order to remain compliant?
It's not smart. It's unethical and cheating by any measure other than the letter of the law. |

Really? This year Norris .62 ppg, Chytil .52. Norris is a year older. And Chytil missed a bunch of games
I don’t get it lol. Norris is gonna be Gretzky is what I’m gathering from it🤷🏻♂️ |

I just think you have to look at it from an Ottawa point of view. They don't act like we are used to with the Rangers. Not all about just going for the best player. Money plays a huge role there. Just my two cents. They just don't seem like a trade partner for us |

I hear you, TJ.
The talk is a little melodramatic here. But, I did some deeper comparing of Filip's stats to Norris. It's hard to sing Chytil's praises. Yes, he has a lot more experience, but Norris's numbers are just plain better in his limited career so far. Draws, points per game, shooting percentage, corsi, etc. All skew in favour of Norris. |

In fairness TB did put Tyler Johnson on waivers and he cleared them because nobody wanted him at $5M. They still skirted the rules but it's not like they didn't have to go through the process everyone else did of shuffling players around to meet the certain requirements. |

What is the reason they dont have a cap for playoffs anyway? Seems (frank)ing stupid |

They need to fix a couple of rules, like retained salary. Tampa also buys cap space with draft picks. They got David Savard for 25% of his AAV because they paid Columbus to retain 50%, then laundered him thru Detroit and paid them to retain 50%. If 50% is the max that can be retained, it should be 50% of the contract AAV period

I know. But don’t act like you all talk to Dorian it feels like you all had a meeting with him and I wasn’t invited. No one knows if they would trade him or not. Which is my (frank)ing point the whole time
I forgot tho, trade proposals are so taboo here |

Ive been giving this Eichel trade a lot of thought and if its something the team insists on going through with then I feel the trade has to have conditions based on his health.
The main condition that Ive thought about is a minimum games played condition. Im thinking 100 games over 2 seasons is a fair number of games to be played. If the condition isnt met then Buffalo gives up - aecliptic[insert conditions here].
No way Buffalo does that. What if he has a sprained ankle or another injury which would keep him out? |

as fans we have untouchables on the Rangers that we get pissed about if other teams bring them up
I talk to enough Ottawa fans to know that they consider Josh Norris an untouchable

I know it is very difficult for you to put a trade a proposal that makes sense for both teams, but perhaps you should try instead of sounding like an idiot. |

lol. Dont' mistake me here, man!
I don't consider Norris to be some must have piece of the puzzle. And I certainly don't think it should take a package of 3-4 assets to get him, either.
Just saying that if you compare the numbers at this point in time, they show the picture of Norris being a more reliable player right now. Which could be extrapolated into saying he has a higher ceiling.
I'm still on the thought that we should look to trade with Winnipeg. Scheifele would be a home run. Copp could be a nice, reasonably inexpensive 3C option for us. Maybe not Norris's skill level, but a bigger, stronger guy with good faceoff ability. |

Nah. Scheifele isn’t available. Chevaldayoff told me that he bought a boat, so he’s staying in the Peg. Which is weird, because does Winnipeg even have a body of water? Lol |

if a fan of another team came here and offered 4 assets for Adam Fox I'd tell them there isnt a chance it's gonna happen, I do that without talking to Drury either
with Twitter and the opportunity to engage fans of other teams, to read the writers for all the teams as much as I do, I get a pretty good sense of guys who I know wouldn't be traded and Josh Norris is one of those guys
