With the knowledge of his herniated disc now public, I think that is an over payment. Sabres fans are laughing to keep themselves from crying. Their big payday has vanished. - TommyGTrain
the response you get from Sabres fans, and even some writers, is that its laughable that we think we can get Eichel without including Kakko or Lafreniere
the conversation with them usually can't get over that hump |

I think they're going to be pretty pissed at the return whoever their trade partner is. Eichel has the team bent over a barrel. The injury, his statements to the media, and his contract make this very hard for Buffalo. |

I highly doubt any team will trade for a player who is injured and in need of rehab or surgery. Im sure anyone will want to see him skating again and putting up points. If they as they say he is ready by the beginning of the season, Gms will need to see how healthy he is before giving up any players in a trade. No way a trade will happen before the end of the year. Maybe |

I have confidence that the Rangers would never trade for him unless they were confident he can overcome the health issues

Any trade will be contingent on a medical exam, obviously, so I wouldn't be too surprised for teams to make a move on Eichel in the off-season, especially if he can be had for much less then what he would've fetched a year ago, prior to injury, comments, etc. |

This is what I am expecting. He is also entering the last season before his NMC kicks in. If a team can get him for anything besides a ridiculous overpayment I think the deal gets done.
I also want to say that I am not advocating for the NYR to be his landing spot. It just seems too obvious that they are going to be one of the top potential destinations. |

Even if he fully recovers, I’m sorry, I really don’t get this Eichel thing.
For a minute, let’s forget about his injury situation, his possible attitude issues, and his 10M salary.
In his 6 year career, he is 0.95 PPG which is very good, but 20th across the league (full time players only) during that span, and he is 44% on Faceoffs.
Why do some people think that is worth a package containing some combination of Laf, Kakko, Miller, Fox, and first round picks? Do people think if he leaves Buffalo he will turn into McDavid?

If he is "healthy" and can be had for a reasonable package I am OK w/ it. He did have 82 points (2019) & 78 points (2020)!! He is a top 10 center in the league |

Even if he is medically cleared I cant see a team not waiting to see if he can stay healthy and play. Buffalo will not take a second round pick for him and no team will want to give up anything of value if he cant stay healthy or at least have 25 games under his belt. |

He was doing .95ppg with a very bad Sabre's team. On a better team he can probably get at least 90pts per season.
Laf and Fox and probably untouchable. KK and then Miller. Id move Miller for a center. |

You also have to consider the dumpster fire organization he plays for. Those numbers are actually better than you think |

Yeah. While I am not jumping up and down to acquire him I would be pretty excited at the potential. |

I'd be willing to talk Miller with Los Angeles for Turcotte, Kupari, that kind of thing
but no not considering him as part of a package for a 10 million a year guy
an Eichel package should include of couple of our RFA guys who are about to get nice raises, a top prospect and a 1st rounder at best

Buchnevich, Chytil, 2 1sts. 2 1sts because I don't think Chytil moves the needle much but he is a roster player going back at the same position. Maybe remove a first and send back another player and a 2nd. I'm not really sure what kind of package would get it done.
I saw someone on the Sabre's blog suggest Byfield AND Turcotte along with 2 firsts etc. That was apparently a trade scenario proposed by a prominent sports writer.
That is ludicrous given the situation. |

I'm prepared. I am just going to be in a bad mood constantly and when it finally happens it will just be a little worse.
The only way I am going to get mad this summer is if Kakko, Lafreniere, Fox or Miller get traded away. Do what you want with the rest. |

LAF and Fox are safe no matter what . The other two would only go in a blockbuster star player coming back. |

Before Eichel's injury / comments I think Byfield/Trucotte and 2 1sts would be the going rate, BUT now, wtf knows?

Did they have to play him 10 million a year so soon? If his salary was more manageable they could ask for the lot for him |

Before this year. he was consistently increasing his points year to year and had two 80 pt. seasons. His salary, given his point totals isn't too far off. One would have to believe Buff also overpayed a bit b/c they wanted to have him signed before he became an UFA. God know Buff isn't exactly the destination to be in NHL |

Any place other than Buff might get it done for closer to 9. |
