Rangers have hired Mike Grier as adviser to hockey operations, Post has learned. Drury and Grier go back to mid-90s as BU teammates, reunited in Buffalo mid-00s. That fills vacancy created by Leetch's departure. Drury aggressive reaching out to candidates to fill mgt. spots.
Gretzky was such a cheat code. I think people forget just how insane he was for a stretch of time. By the time he got here, he was clearly aging and in decline and yet still almost helped drag us to the Final - 2sticks1puck
Kovalev out with torn ACL. Karpovtsev out injured. Niklas Sundstrom out injured. Give Rangers a healthy team, they beat Philly.
Brooks says interview with Gallant may have happened already or will be done by tomorrow
The 57-year-old Gallant, who has compiled a 270-216-55 (.550) career record behind the bench of the Blue Jackets, Panthers and Golden Knights, has no personal connection to the 44-year-old Drury. But the Blueshirts have received multiple positive reports on Gallant from people who do have a personal connection with him.
It is theoretically possible that Drury could hire Gallant immediately if the coach aces the interview in order to give a jump-start to the offseason remodeling, but that seems unlikely. Speaking to other potential candidates would seem the appropriate way to proceed even if Drury is smitten with the one-time power winger for the Red Wings, who recorded 318 points (147-171) in 298 games over a four-season stretch beginning in 1986-87.

I love how he adds that. It serves absolutely no weight when deciding if he is a good candidate to coach or not
“ Injuries, mostly to his back, caused Gallant to miss over 30 games over the 1990–91 NHL season. In March 1991, he was forced to undergo surgery to remove a bone spur from his back, causing him to miss the rest of the regular season and the playoffs.[9] Gallant returned to the Wings as a full-time regular for the 1991–92 and 1992–93 seasons. He provided his usual physical presence and finished with a +16 and +20 plus/minus rating; however was unable to duplicate his scoring prowess and the Wings did not offer him a contract to return.”
How do you think Gallant will feel about trading for Eichel?

Aatu raty has fallen hard, he was projected as the #1 overall in this draft as close as 2 years ago but has slipped since. I was reading that if people saw him play he’d still be in the top 5 but the lack of scouting has really accelerated his drop. If he’s there at 15 it might be a home run type pick.

yeah for sure, if we got him 15th overall would be perfect, if we were earlier no way
Filip Chytil
Pavel Buchnevich
Sabres Choice: Nils Lundkvist or Braden Schneider
NYR 2021 first round pick (likely 15th overall)
Sabres 2021 3rd round pick returned

I wouldn't mind that package, if Eichel were healthy.
...and wasn't an bumhole.

Id do that in a heartbeat!!
Sabre's would want to add KK and another first rounder too!!
I think the sticking point would be they would want a center with a higher ceiling than Chytil, which we dont have.

It would suck to lose Nils or Braden but you got to give to get. A lot of reports are saying Buffalo doesn’t want to trade him to the Rangers. So we may have to overpay compared to other teams

I would love to somehow have them take Jones over Nils or Braden. Would even sweeten the deal with another pick
