Go for it? The Rangers arent playoff contenders yet let alone true Cup contenders and you want to sign a player who will definitively impact our future Cap? - Brukie
I think we are contenders next year. If you look at someone that we are trying to emulate, the Tampa Bay Lightning, they went from picking Stamkos and Hedman in short success to cup contenders in only a couple years. It's easier said than done, but I don't think a big jump is impossible.

Still being paid by team that fired him - rrentz
I wish I could be fired and still collect a pay check while I "search" for a new job. |

Lucking into Kucherov in the 2nd round helps a bit

Tankathon has Matt Coronato going 15th
should they take him at the draft or wait until he says he only wants to play for Rangers and trade two second round picks for him down the line
http://www.tankathon.com/nhl/mock_draft - jimbro83
Im hoping we get bumped up into the top 6-7 so we get a shot at Johnson or Lucius. |

Work in banking. If you ever get severed there is usually a package. If I didn't have a kid, i've been here so long I'd almost root for it to happen. But yeah, with a kiddo can't afford to take that chance.

Very true. Only way I could see a team who fired a coach deny anyone speaking to him about a job, is if they were in same division?

Give me L'Heraux. I think that guy is going to be nasty to play against in this league. We have enough skill guys.

Wouldn't we draft 15 though since Yotes have no pick?

His size and reports Ive read seems like he’s similar to Max Domi. I can take it or leave it. |

The Rangers will be in the same situation, Zibby will command at least 8-9 mil per. Panarin, Zib, Truba. Same situation. - Brukie
Even if not having that severe neck injury, for which the Sabres organization would not allow him to undergo a special surgery he requested for, acquiring Eichel alone would pose cap problems for the years ahead. That just as acquiring a Matthew Tkaczuk, or any other highest of cap players would pose likewise, unless disposing of cap space.
Barring any dealt elsewhere, the '22/'23 season will tell all when Zib, Strome, Kakko, Kravtsov, and two others who will never be traded named Fox and Shesterkin, will all be due their big payday, along with Lafreniere and Miller the following season. And don't forget those "performance bonuses" that all the above except for Zib and Strome may also be eligible to collect ahead of any new agreed to contract of term length.
Creativity of cap space through trades will test Drury in otherwise taking over a Gorton/JD rebuild of "wealth" in young talent, with each "kid" having the most promising of futures ahead to earn that wealth.
Add: Per a member noting my error, Shesty is not the RFA goalie in '22/'23. Off my memory, I mentioned him instead of Georgiev being the possible RFA then if he is still status quo in contract if still here. |

As much as the league afterwards tried to help the Devils after the Kovy thing, I'm kind of shocked they haven't stepped in and gave them something. Who wants that job? No fanbase, no farm, and no high picks to try to fix it.

I'm sure Bettman is putting our logo on a golf ball to drop into the tank. It will just sit there on the bottom while all the other balls bounce around |

It's even sillier that if they win, they have to redo it.

I for one am soooo glad Richards has been working w/ NYR centers on faceoffs. He is doing a bang up job - rrentz
Prospects will only be prospects until they fully develop in all aspects of their game.
Maybe Messier would be best if instructing their centers of all statures on faceoffs.

which is really stupid because if AZ wins, they re-draw, so what's the point

Why does anyone need to ask for permission to speak with Gallant? He was fired. - JRR1285
Permission was needed by any team to talk to Gallant because he is still under contract with Vegas.

Since he was referencing the Oilers having 3 players with high salaries who play the same position, no it’s not the same as the Rangers. |
