They really need to do something about the LTIR loophole. Kucherov misss the entire year, which is the only way TB gets under the cap, and then he's magically healed for the playoffs. They need to have independent physicians monitor these players every month, and if they are cleared to play, they ho back in the lineup. This shouldn't be required for players like Seabrook and Shaw who are "retiring" due to their injuries.

It worked for Chicago when Kane went down with a broken collar bone and they were able to trade for Vermette.

I know, but I think that's a different scenario. Plus, I don't think Kane could have come back earlier. IIRC, wasn't he supposed to miss at least the first round? Independent doctors wouldn't have cleared Kane to play before the playoffs, people have been saying for weeks that Kucherov will be available for the first round. I would like to know when he would have been available if he had to undergo a monthly physical.

Well Kucherov, Stamkos and Hedman - who is playing through an injury last part of regular season and in playoffs - are up against a buzz saw Florida Gator more than a Panther. Whatever....but I say this because early third period Florida had 41 hits with Gudas leading the way with 9. I questioned their defense when Ekblad went down. But so many young players plus Gudas who hit and tremendous offensive depth. Who could know both Forsling and Weeger would be as good as they have been?

In past Cup years Chicago stepped up when the meaness, toughness was their supposed weakness. Chicago was tough enough and very smart + clutch. So Florida could go on a run if they knock Tampa out. But some team will not allow Florida's checking and firepower overcome. Let us see who is in net and how well.they play for Florida.

Tampa won out tonight. I take the experienced Tampa but Florida puts up a grand challenge.

Now I go look at hockeybuzz other teams to see why Sorokin started game 1. LATE ADD Malkin did no play in game one for Penguins. Will Carter be a difference maker for Penguins?

On my list of everything that’s wrong with pro sports, fixing the NHL’s LTIR rules would be near the bottom.

Former Hawk Forsling on the ice for Tampa's winning goal. You can decide for yourself if he was caught napping.

Former Hawks don’t make mistakes, only current Hawks do.

Bobrovsky is not good at hockey.

The Flames are up 5-1 after 2. If Calgary goes on to win they’ll need 2 points in their final 2 games for the Hawks to move up in the draft.

Since the Yotes forfeit their pick and the Hawks would technically draft 11th (but selecting 10th).

How are the draft lottery odds impacted? Would the Hawks be considered 10th or 11th?

Bobrobsky was good at hockey
A Knight in shining amor coming to rescue
Or before his time
Other mediocre to slightly better choice in goal
Will not stop Lightning from striking
