So I think we have reasonable confidence that islanders pick is staying where it’s at. Preds and Blues were easily outmatched.

Nothing we can do about it one way or the other. Just strap in and see where the chips land.

Its purely a stylistic comparison, it has nothing to do with actual ability or skill level. I prefer Hughes or Clarke over Power all day, but im happy walking out of the draft with any of the top 4 D.

We can't go wrong with the spot we're in. i was just hoping to be in range of getting one of the top 4 D or top 5 forwards, so we're guaranteed to get a good prospect no matter who we take. Unfortunately that's the issue with this draft, theres no elite/franchise cornerstone or very great prospects at the top. But theres good depth, im way more excited and interested about what we do with the Isles pick over our own

I agree about the style comparison. I just go off on a tangent when I talk about Hedman. Anybody who plays at that level for 30 minutes a night is a game changer. If that team actually has an achilles, he is it, with Vasy being 2nd. Stacked squad, but he is the driving force in my opinion.

You are right that we are in a great spot. And I agree. Still, if we slide down to 6th in the draft, and the top 4D are scooped up, I would be hesitant to take another D when so many high end forwards may be going overlooked. Again, I think our drafting has been great the past few years, and trust them to make the right decision. Certainly won't be disappointed if we land one of Hughes/Power/Clarke. The Isles pick and the expansion draft both have so many looming possibilities. We could very well be a 3rd part facilitator with our cap space, as so few teams have that option. It's going to be an interesting off-season for sure.

Yep. That game was incredible. I think Florida got robbed with a few ridiculous penalties, but it is what it is. They were hungry and played well. More speed in that game than I thought there would be.

That game was unreal. I agree that Florida wasn't on the positive side of the officiating that night. But what a pace! I hate to put our squad down, but they would have been lucky to lose by less than a touchdown vs the performance from either of those teams. What a series.

I don't see Power being like Hedman. If Power threw some big hits, sure, but seems to me he's a 6'5 guy that plays like he's a 6' all around d. Hedman is 6'7 and plays like he's 6'7... this guy not even close.

He's slick, a jack of all master of none, but what especially worries me is his intensity. Not sure he has much of that.

Jones is the more fair comparison, but Jones had a wicked wrist shot (which I don't know that he uses all that much).

The one thing I can say is that it's not set in stone. If an NHL coach taught this guy to play with intensity, he'd be one of the league's best.

Wait, are you saying he's not like Hedman but more like Seth Jones because Power isnt physical and doesn't hit? I think you got them confused. Hedman isn't as physical as you think if that's the case. He wasn't even in the top 100 in the league among D in hits with his 51, whereas Seth Jones was in top 25 with more than double the hits Hedman had.

If Power was more physical and used his body more(which is what i said he needs to work on) then sure i could see the Jones comparison, but hes not there yet. Hedman is definitely the better comparable, and hes the most common one among the "prospect junkies" out there, which is why i used it

Oh damn the Devils have hired Meghan Duggan for the role of Manager, Player Development within the hockey ops department. That actually seems like a pretty good move, i really like the direction our player development system has been going in the past year or so

Hall with a sick goal tonight. Anybody thinking he was washed up or that his MVP season was a fluke is a moron.
