I'm not a fan of any of those trades though.
Vancouver is probably the closest, yet I still think they need to forget Pearson in the deal...as part of my no Cap dump mantra...they can talk to Detroit. Christ we have Skinner, Okposso, Girgs, Eakin already who are useless for their contract. .let's stop building bottom-heavy bottom-feeder teams.

Tkachuk's QO is scary at $9m, I'd decline unless they can reach an agreement for around ~$7.5

I'd peg Sam's value to a 3 or 4 OA draft pick, as that is what his product over the span of his career equates to. So Seattle is in play straight up. Taking on Neal's $5.25m 2 yr contract for redundant Girgs/Bjork, Asplund just significantly devalues it...let Seattle keep him and we get Edmintons 1st rounder which is likely a mid 20's pick...practically a 2nd rounder.

To your main point, I'd love to see more but the Sabres are threading a delicate needle between "hardball" and Reinhart walking in 14 months.

I think if you are trading all 3 of Eichel Rhino Risto, you should be getting a goalie in 1 of those trades hopefully.

Aren't there a decent crop of UFAs, though? Maybe sign someone (or two) and use Sam to bolster somewhere else.

First time reading your blog and while I don’t believe any of these teams consider these trades you kept it entertaining which is essentially the entire point of coming to this site.

I would also have NYR as a dark horse here. I don’t think they will be willing to give up what it will take for eichel but with the two teams already talking it wouldn’t be ridiculous for them to switch gears to Reinhart after they lose out. The Rangers may not end up with the star they want but they could probably get away with a platoon of him and Zabanejad, especially considering they will be insulated by the likes of panerin, Buchnevich as well as the continued development of Lafreniere, kaapo, and Kravtsov. I think if the rangers called with Georgiev and this years 1st it would definitely get the ball rolling in the right direction.
