The Rangers are not good trade partners unless they are willing to give up something of true quality. - kingcong39

Depends on who you are trading with.
Jack is a very strong impact player immediately adding wins. Bubble teams today, probably become playoff teams and therefore their picks would be mnon-lottery picks next year.
In Kong's proposed trade, Winnipeg is and remains a playoff team and by adding Jack may be able to pull off a series or two wins..making that '22 draft pick in the ~mid-20's.
You aren't getting "generational" talent in that range.
Now, if it were Anaheim...I would agree to roll the dice and hope the purge of Eichel and Sam both release the curse from tanking on this franchise - IonSabres
Ideally they Trade Eichel to the next version of the Sharks team that thinks their close, trades unprotected 22/23 1st rounders.
What organization looks like they could go either way, Winnipeg is on that list with that questionable defense |

Keep the 3 rd
Add one of the goalie's - Anderdog
I'd have no problem adding Georgiev but Shesterkin is untouchable
really the only things absolutely untouchable on the Rangers under any circumstances are Lafreniere, Fox and Shesterkin and the guys with NMCs
really anybody else could be had in that right deal |

It was the Winnipeg 1st round pick this season, not next. - kingcong39
Correct.
He wanted you to push the picks into the '22 draft for a shot at the top end talent..to which I was responding that they wouldn't get top end talent (Wright, etc) with a pick from a playoff team. |

the deal I offered with Chytil, Buchnevich and Nils Lundkvist is so much better than that
you guys shouldn't sleep on Nils Lundkvist, there couldn't be a better guy to pair up with Dahlin on an ELC

A definite possibility :
Other teams see Jack as damaged goods and aren't even entertaining the thought of trading for him, and if they are, they're offering a LOT less than anyone in here is suggesting.
Also, in theory, there's the possibility that he can't ever play effectively again. I know I'd retire from a professional sport if I had to have that sort of surgery.

I like what the Rags have put together.
If Sabres trade their elite, franchise 1C who is regarded as a top 7 C;
The trade is going to be uncomfortable.
Jack was hurt in his 17 games this season...broken rib, ankle, abdominal strain .. all from the start of the season and still played at a 1.0pt/Gm pace. His goal scoring was down from those short-term injuries...yet overall production remained high. Last year he was at a 1.2 pt pace.
Olofsso played '19-'20 season at a 64 pt pace over 82 games. He and Jack play well together.
That package of Eichel and Olofsson is worth about 150 pts and those two go together in any package.
You have to give to get.
Your '21 1st pick is 16th in a very underwhelming draft with little recent data to properly evaluate...therefore it has low value.
It starts with Lafreniere and the package has 5 or 6 assets coming back, with NO Cap dumps.
Don't like it...move on..NP...we'll keep Jack for another season and watch him blow it out of the water. |
