No, it's great hockey. This game is a great example of why a little toughness in the lineup is needed.

Something to help you sleep a little better......Fletch drafted this years soon to be ROY...karill Kaprisov in the 5th round in 2015....so yes it’s fair to point to some of his failures but gotta admit that was a good one.

Even blind squirrels find nuts; hitting on a 5th rounder is an oddity. If cf was a genius GM, wouldn't he have picked the soon-to-be ROY in the first round?

I don’t wanna overrate characters or guys who can make you laugh but the Flyers were way more interesting not only when they were more physical but can give you a sound bite in the dressing room. Jeremy Roenick, Chris Pronger, Scott Hartnell. All great guys for stuff like the above. Good stuff by Wade Allison.

Makes me wonder why anyone says not to trade any flyer that can’t keep up? Coots especially

What a game.

That's why high end skill does, folks. Toughness and team play equalizes out across teams, but guys like Kucherov and Point, the plays they make when given a sliver of opportunity in a tight game, that what separates prize winners from pretenders.

Impressive how Kucherov can miss the whole season and score two goals in his first game back

this is why you tank for players in the draft like owen tippet not losers like nolan patrick

Kaprizov is great. Is he a lock for the Calder? I thought Shesty was still eligible. Does he have a shot despite the Rangers coming up short?

Gonna catch a ban you keep that talk up. Flyer fans don’t think for themselves. How anyone can watch a game like that and possibly compare what they see in flyer games is beyond me. I will say I do see some of it in farabee tho.

It all falls on the GM. As a long time flyers fan and living in Long Island, Lou has transformed the islanders to what they are. Frankly I’m disappointed that we didn’t get a better GM then fletcher. As far as coaching goes, there are way too many chefs in the kitchen. Three head coaches? Get some up and coming assistant coaches that have had success at the lower levels

What’s your plan if the high draft picks don’t work out?

You are incorrect. You might want to do some research on what’s going on up there.

What if the player you tanked for does not work out or gets hurt. See Patrick

What is your specific plan then?

Doesn’t hurt when your (The Avalanche) top draft picks actually turn into good players
- ClaudeFather

Carrying this one over from the previous discussion:

2013 Draft
AV - McKinnon #1, Flyers - Morin #11 overall
2015 Draft
AV - Mikko Rantanen #10, Flyers - Ivan Provorov #7, TK #24
2017 Draft
AV - Cale Makar #4, Flyers - Nolan Patrick #2

In all these drafts, the Flyers had high picks to either draft a great player or move up in the draft to get a great player. Instead they screwed the pooch while the AV drafted not good, but great players. Yet there are those on this forum that still praise Hextall ... amazing!

Yes, its funny how elite talent works sometimes ... we who follow the Flyers wouldn't recognize this unfortunately.

Yes, it is weird how many stars can break a leg, break a collarbone, have major surgery, fill in blank, whatever and the player is maybe off a bit, but is basically the same player as before....

Someone gets injured on Flyers and they look like crap for 1, 2, 3 years and the excuse is "He's been injured!!!".

Flyers need more players that can heal better.

The Flyers certainly need a little more luck in this regard as well. However acquiring some elite talent is something this team desperately needs and I know Hextall couldn't do it, lets hope Fletcher can.
