in the end, ryan o'reilly has his name on the stanley cup and made such a significant contribution to st louis' first ever hockey championship, he also had his name engraved on the conn smythe trophy given to the most valuable player in the NHL playoffs...he capped that off with the Frank J. Selke Award for best two-way forward in league...
oh...and they don't get to the playoffs without an incredible run spurred on with the help of ror, who's 24 goals and plus-26 rating for those 56 games led the team while his 54 points were second behind david perron's 58 - Michael Pachla
Still confused as to why this necessarily means Colorado would have won a cup if they kept him.
He sure as hell did not win a cup here in Buffalo.
The St.Louis Blues had a very good hockey team, and had a lot of luck.
ROR never played at a level he did in St.Louis with Colorado or Buffalo.
Colorado was able to go into the toilet and now look like they are primed to be a cup contender all decade.
St.Louis will be back to being a border line playoff team each year withering in no-mans land. But no, you can’t take the cup away from them and that should keep the fan base happy for several years |

Took 2 trades for him to realize he doesn't need to be captain to lead a team.... |

I think that's pegulas biggest concern - Anderdog
I'm curious what Sabres nation feels.
All my Sabres buddies , nobody cares.
Kinda sad

kagm has supposedly interviewed head coaches for months...still trying to figure out which ones - Michael Pachla
Well, think of it this way...
A rookie GM is using this opportunity to interview numerous, long term hockey minds to pick their brain about the roster...get their thoughts on strengths, weaknesses, opportunities...playing strategies etc.
Then uses the young guys to understand new and upcoming trends and tactics, reads on the young kids (possible draft picks, etc).
Taking his time is the absolute best course of action.
What the F is the rush anyway? |

I’d say it’d be helpful to have the coach in place by June 20-ish - July 11... that is if you want the coaches eyes on some prospects about a month before the draft.

What in the world would an Ott hiring do to put people in the stands? Granato has more head coaching experience. As of right now, they are almost halfway to the Bills former sucktitude. Until there is a movement up, the Pegulas should get NONE of our money. I do know that the building would sell out for a number of games for fans of other teams. |

So far next year looks like this, Your going to have to trade your best players (the big 3) because they don't want to play here and have said it publicly. i realize there are only 32 head coaching jobs but who the frank would want to coach this team? so that means another rookie HC.
this team is a franking mess and will always be a mess. The Pegulas got lucky with the Bills.

They made a change for last season when they returned but I am not sure if that continued into this season |

No-trade/No-move Clauses:
All no-trade and no-move clauses will travel with the player in the event of a trade, even if the player is traded before the clause kicks in. This means, if a player is dealt just days before his no-trade or no-move clause begins, the acquiring team cannot wipe out that clause and then trade the player at a later date, unless it does so under the terms of the original no-trade/no-move clause.
This is not what I was talking about but did not know this |

He’s a very good ASSISTANT coach...
We don’t know what he will be like as a head coach.
We have a glimpse of what Donny will be.
Ott could be amazing. Or he could be the next Phil. Just an amazing assistant....
It’s a difficult question, do you go with the known assistant with a little head coaching at the nhl level, with shown improvement with YOUR group
Or
Do you go with the hot assistant that has buffalo ties.
If Terry the fan boy has a say, welcome aboard Mr. Ott and we wish you the best.
If Adams is making the decision, I’m. Just. Not. Sure. |

Please, no.
Just stick w Donnie. Let him upgrade his assistants (SOMEONE he's knows must know how to coach a PP, right?), or at least one of his assistants. |

That’s pretty much where I am at. Give me the known commodity that’s shown growth with the group.
Give him a healthy roster with some input and at least a #2 goalie vs the 4th, 5th, and 6th string tendys...
Strengthen the assistants around him. Throw him a 2 year deal and let the meatball roll!
But this is Terry and Kim. The pegula’s are probably gonna Pegula.
And maybe they luck out with Ott. Or maybe we are looking for a coach in 2 years. |
