If Adams is smart, he would try to find two good suitors in the same division to trade each of Eichel and Sam...even same conference would work. Like Sam to LA and Eichel to Anaheim..or The Wild and VGK...

Not a bad idea, definitely could get very interesting.

I still can't believe we are about to lose our top 2 offensive players and Risto..
What a mess... - hehateme
Or
What an opportunity with
A) the returns
B) additional $20m in Cap, less the Caps of the returns
C) better culture from players who actually want to be here ... which is now an issue with all three rolling into the 21-22 season.
The big question in my mind is can KA and JK maximize the returns.
To be seen...same bat channel...stay tuned.
If the Sabres are rebuilding, they'll want a return of at least either a high draft pick or top prospect plus a good, young, NHL-ready player. They could ask for rookie Nils Hoglander plus promising Vasili Podkolzin or Jack Rathbone. The Canucks could insist that underachieving Jake Virtanen be part of the return to shed his $2.55 million cap hit for next season.
Pretty sure Virtanen is untradable right now. He's being sued for sexual assault.

"Given Reinhart's reluctance to play for a rebuilding club in Buffalo..."
what's the best way to convince a player to shuck his 'reluctance' and stay with a particular club?
money and term...maybe even a 'C' on the sweater too...
granted, rumor has it he wants to go west, but if the team wants him to stay, those are the things that can mitigate 'reluctance' - Michael Pachla
Sam's going to get his money, and protection that comes with a long term contract...this offseason or next.
The C would have value to him I would think...how much if the perception is the roster will still suck for a couple more years as he pisses away his career...probably not much.
But, IMO the change in heart only comes from the organization actually assemble a friggin competitive roster with significant growth into future years ... i.e. get good, promising, young players...
Seems like the way to do that is to fully leverage Eichel, Sam, Risto.

i'm in...do that, keep donnie meatballs and seth appert in place to continue the youngins development, in a couple years evaluate where the players are individually and as a team, evaluate what kind of a coach meatballs is--whether a developer of talent or a bona fide nhl coach who can win at this level--and move forward from there...
i'd prefer they keep one of jack or sam and think the latter would be the better idea, but..c'est la vie

The above captures where my head is at...but I go 60/40 on trading/retaining Sam. I think once Jack is dealt, he'll want absolutely zero to do with the Sabres though.

fair statement, then again is there an allure to having these sabres as "his team"?
