Pretty damn similar.

I meant the point on compensation

Zadorov and Grigorenko were both recent firsts but I’m not sure their value at the time= First rounder exactly

My point was Reinhart may be worth more then some/many may think, especially with his performance at Center this past season.
- kingcong39

The only thing with Sam is, unless he is willing to to a sign and deal, he’s effectively a rental.

So yes, I do think dealing an impending UFA would definitely reduce the compensation coming back.

So was O'Reilly when he was traded?

Minnesota and Vegas make sense too

Peyton Krebs is an excellent prospect.

So is Marco Rossi

Both of the above I take in a heartbeat over Turcotte or Chytil

Who knows if he will be the same

There are quite a few parallels between O'Reilly's situation when he was traded and Reinhart's situation right now.
- kingcong39

skunk has 134 goals in 454 games as a sabre

ror had 90 goals in 427 games for colorado

skunk has almost 50 percent more goals and 50 more points

and skunk never signed an "offer" sheet with another club

This was my Winnipeg trade proposal and my Anaheim one is beneath that.

- kingcong39

And I like the extra picks Adams has acquired, can be used for players from teams that can't protect everyone from the expansion draft.

The O'Reilly deal was Grigorenko, Zadorov, Compher, and a 2nd round pick.

I wonder what the equivalent would be today.

Think he meant not building a team around him and could be a finishing piece for a team like ROR was in St. Louis.

Along with some/many thinking Reinhart won't bring back much in a trade.

And ROR signed long term with Buffalo.

If Sam is adamant on going to the market it may have an effect on the return.

Pageau got a 1st, 2nd, and a 3rd as a UFA and then signed in Long Island long term. Maybe that’s what we are looking at in a Sam trade

Id be very intrigued if the Sabres could work out a trade where Reinhart is actually in Seattle as their 1C and the Sabres bail out a team who’s going to lose a good player

For example

Colorado gets - Reinhart + 2nd rounder from Seattle

Seattle gets - selects Sam Reinhart, signs him to extension

Buffalo gets - Devon Toews or Sam Girard.

COL gets compensated for losing a good player they will probably lose anyways

Seattle gets to pick a very good player

Buffalo gets a top pairing defensemen who’s signed

Yes, clearly he would need to be amenable to signing a long term contract with the team he is being traded to, but I've seen a lot of Sam isn't worth much in a trade comments and proposals from many, and it's interesting how similar O'Reilly's situation was to Sam's.

Just read a proposal reported on Spoertnet up here in Canada.

Eichel to the Flames for Tkachuk , Zarybamd the 2021 1st round pick.

I think that’s a pretty sweet deal for both teams.

Sweet for Calgary but sour for the Sabres, unless there's a guarantee the Calgary pick is top 2.

He did. He said it was Tkachuk, Zary, and this year's first.

That's not enough.

I like this comparison.
ROR was signed for $7.0M out of the gate right?

So 2 young prospects, and 2 2nds
I think Grigorenko was probably bordering a B Prospect at the time..wasn't he in his 2nd year then?

Maybe it is fair to say
* Top 6 / 2nd Pairing / A level Prospect
* Bottom 6 plyer
* 2021/2022-2nd
