Anders Lee coming back this playoff season ššš?? What up w Varly? Is he out long term? - TogaIsles
Varly has a knock. How bad no one knows and we are not going to know unfortunately. If Anders can come back while the Isles are still playing he can play. |

Yeah I donāt expect Lee back but man would that be a huge lift. Varly tweaked something but thought he would be starting today. Sorokin was good today but God forbid something happens and Schneider needs to play. |

Trotz said 1 more practice said he's close but thought it best to wait one more game. Could be b.s but at least we know sorokin can step-up |

Yeah, I think those hit counts for both teams were a bit inflated. They credited 120 for the game . Leo had a strong game. He played well in all three zones. I think a few players who aren't typically physical played more physical than usual (Bailey). I hope they keep it up, but I'm not taking one game to proclaim that Palmieri > Hall or all of the Komarov critics have been wrong all along. It's a long haul and this was a good start. - keaner17
I think saying Leo had a good game for Leo is a great way of putting it. Also, who said Palmieri was horrible and wasnāt going to play well in the playoffs? I remember pretty much everyone including myself saying hopefully he steps up in the playoffs heās a much better player then weāve seen. Have to create narratives to attack people with because I guess thatās enjoyable.
The islanders win game one of the first series of the playoffs and the same people talk about Leo Komarov non stop for two threads and you wonder why multiple people post less or not at all on here over the last couple of yearsš
Fire Trotz, fire Lou, Bailey sucks!

Pageau had one of his best games as an Islander which says a lot because the guy has been a freaking horse for us. He was absolutely incredible the entire game where as the team as a whole WAS NOT. Palmieri who hasnāt been impactful for us since the TDL scores two goals including the OT winner against a team who by all accounts is already trying to figure out who is the better opponent for them next round. Beauvillier has a great game.
With all of this great stuff to discuss letās talk about a grinder who is on our first line, was put on waivers twice, who had one shot on goal on our first line, saying how wonderful he was, to make some imaginary point, for two threads ad nauseam because he threw some hits.
Who (frank)ing cares? |

The new story line taken from that imo is who will be in net next game... |

The Islanders are built for the playoffs. I wouldn't call them mediocre in the regular season. They play well enough to get in and once the playoffs start a switch goes off and they are a very dangerous team. I feel the Lightning are the only team that stands in there way of winning the cup this year. Hopefully they get eliminated. |

My question is who cares? Whatās the point youāre trying to make? How dare people point out a player isnāt playing well on a hockey site? If that upsets you Iāll tell you to take up something else to do with your spare time. Thatās what goes on in this thread long before you got here and every, single, other teams thread on every, single, site. More importantly it hasnāt really even been a topic for weeks it kind of is what it is at this point but the same people day in and day out keep bringing it up and beating the dead horse. Itās literally the same people whining that arenāt letting it go. Then they say itās everyone else talking about it which couldnāt be further from the truth. Hey if you guys want to talk about Leo Komarov, Bailey, firing trotz and lameriello because one poster said it a few times go ahead. I would rather discuss other more positive stuff after our team won game 1 of the playoffs. Whatever floats your boat. |

Years? As in two? I think in most cases everyone has agreed that Leo can be an effective fourth liner or checking line player. It's the insistance of hammering him into the round hole that is a first line winger role that frustrates most and evokes his name most often. Especially when other players would be better suited but never get an extended look.
These boards are hilarious to a degree because the level of passive aggressive behavior thrown around coupled with incredible hypocrisy of attacking one set of players while emphatic defending of others just to go against the grain.
Leo had a good game for the type of player he is. Still he's presently a first line player so you have to suit the performance description to the role. If Matt Barzal throws the body for 10 games and backchecks well, but sets up nothing and doesn't score, some will do nothing but complain about his stats because that's not whats expected from that role.
So be it fair or not, when on that line, I think the expectations should be a little higher than 'Hey, I finally noticed Leo today, see you guys were all wrong!'. |

Well said. Iāll also add I hope Komarov scores 15 goals in the playoffs and Bailey assists on every one of them so these guys can feel right about something. I donāt care Iāll be happy we won. I can care less who gets us across the finish line. Iām sure the bold will elicit some level of hatred how dare you say such a thing. You obviously never played in a beer league!!! Btw did you see that dump in Leo made at 15:30 of the third? It was incredible. |

Islanders best line is Pageau wahlstrom palms by a long shot not even close. The Barzal line was a non factor yesterday. Islanders will need all four lines scoring to beat Tampa. |

Definitely. I also think the CCM line had a decent game in terms of physicality and pushing the puck. |

Since the day he was signed. (Was that 2 years ago? or 3? I honestly don't remember.)
I think we can agree that the guy is a role player, nothing more, nothing less. He plays his role well. In a perfect world, Barzal would have 2 talented snipers on his wings, not just one. But you also need someone on each line to do the dirty work; banging bodies, freeing up loose pucks, winning puck battles along the boards, etc. Barzal and Eberle each have some of the high end talent, but aren't particularly good at the dirty work. Leo is very good at the dirty work, but sucks at putting the puck in the net. So I would argue that he complements that line well, despite his inadequacies. I don't know why Barry did not give Palmieri a longer look with Barzal than he did. I do think, however, that Palmieri and Pageau are very effective together, and at the end of the day, I don't care whether Pageau's line scores the game winner, or Barzal's line scores the game winner.
The good news is that Lee will be back playing with Barzal next season, and Leo will be back doing bottom 6 duty. |

Leo was the best player in the first period which was true in my opinion after that the rest of the team stepped up and played and then he was not the best player after that. The fact that I kept posting this
#Isles credited with 72 hits today.
Leo Komarov credited with 14. That's the single-game season-high in the NHL this year
Was because you guys are actually debating his role on this team. We all know he's a 4th line type player and may not be here next year but he is where he is for now and there's nothing anyone here can do about it. Also saying he was good for a period is about the same as saying when someone is playing bad that normally doesn't. I was entertained by this all day |

Have you seen Florida or Carolina or Colorado or Vegas? All those teams are legit contenders that would give the isles fits. I like the positivity but let's not say only the bolts can stop the isles |
