I will never get excited for regular season games again. Saying fire everyone in sight if they miss the playoffs then its warranted. All they have to do is make the playoffs |

We’re one loss away from you firing everyone again |

Pageau had one of his best games as an Islander which says a lot because the guy has been a freaking horse for us. He was absolutely incredible the entire game where as the team as a whole WAS NOT. Palmieri who hasn’t been impactful for us since the TDL scores two goals including the OT winner against a team who by all accounts is already trying to figure out who is the better opponent for them next round. Beauvillier has a great game.

Lou Lams was locked in on getting Pageau last trade deadline and brought in Palmeri this deadline. Not to gloss over the fact that Kyle hasn't been productive but they certainly looked like great moves last night.
Great game... I hate Pittsburgh so much.

Since the day he was signed. (Was that 2 years ago? or 3? I honestly don't remember.)
I think we can agree that the guy is a role player, nothing more, nothing less. He plays his role well. In a perfect world, Barzal would have 2 talented snipers on his wings, not just one. But you also need someone on each line to do the dirty work; banging bodies, freeing up loose pucks, winning puck battles along the boards, etc. Barzal and Eberle each have some of the high end talent, but aren't particularly good at the dirty work. Leo is very good at the dirty work, but sucks at putting the puck in the net. So I would argue that he complements that line well, despite his inadequacies. I don't know why Barry did not give Palmieri a longer look with Barzal than he did. I do think, however, that Palmieri and Pageau are very effective together, and at the end of the day, I don't care whether Pageau's line scores the game winner, or Barzal's line scores the game winner.
The good news is that Lee will be back playing with Barzal next season, and Leo will be back doing bottom 6 duty. - JohnScammo
I'm on my cell so highlighting points is tough. To the point of Leo doing the dirty work well: with each line type there are different descriptions or types of dirty work that needs to be done. On a checking or fourth line, dirty work is getting the puck deep, punishing the retrievers in the corners and sustaining a forecheck as well creating back pressure and physicality in the neutral zone. The first line dirty work is typically mucking in the offensive corners to win battles for the puck and getting in front of the net to bang home rebounds, create screens and deflect shots. I would say Leo does NOT do most of that. He does the fourth line/checking line dirty work well. Palmieri does the scoring line dirty work well. Anders did too. That's what that line misses now.

They’re a real easy team to hate. Both Pageau and Palmieri shined last night. I thought Wahlstrom was also effective mucking it up along the boards and opened up some room for both of them all game. Most effective line imo. |

On the flipside, despite his occasional numb-skulled turnovers, playoff Josh Bailey is a different player than regular seasin 12Chainz. He was hitting, shooting, creating.... i thought he was a standout player yesterday and really wish he'd be THAT guy all season long. I've said it over and over, the thing that creates the most hostility towards Josh is that he has such immense talent, yet plays such a careful game. IMO he has the best offensive skills of any player on this team not named Barzal. |

This is the last thing I’m going to try and say about Komarov and I stress try. He is a sometimes effective 4th liner/grinder. For long stretches he wasn’t even doing that. If he was so wonderful consistently he wouldn’t have been put on waivers twice. That was not only because of his salary it was because he wasn’t worth keeping at his salary. He has played well for Leo Komarov lately. That’s great if he’s in the lineup I would rather he play well then play bad. As elementary as this is I felt the need to explain this none the less. With that said Bailey sucks, fire trotz, fire lameriello, and Leo is an ahl player. |

Agreed but he also had some grade A giveaways right on our blue line.

Leo stood out in the first because the pens were in the isles zone and he can hit and backcheck, once the isles got the pens on their heals and were in the offensive zone he becomes an anchor because he has almost 0 offensive abilities. All that aside I sat they stay with Sororkin as he played well and it let's varlomov rest more |

It creates an intersting issue where if you start Ilya and they win again, you almost have to ride him until he loses. If you start Varlamov snd he loses, you may have to come back to Ilya |

Start sorokin make sure varlomov is fully healed. If he wins keep it going if he loses your 1a is now fully rested you got the split on the road and head home where the isles are really good |

I think Sorokin earned another start. I agree with what you’re saying here but it wouldn’t shock me to see Trotz go with varlamov. |

If there’s any question on Varly’s health you go with SOrOkin and not risk extending Varly’s down time. If Varly is cleared and good to go you give him the start.

Yes, it's an overreaction. But it followed years of certain people complaining ad nauseam about how bad he was. - JohnScammo
Let’s not forget Bailey and of course there was Pelech who was on the Girls Club suck list. Problem is there’s nothing they can add other than pissing and moaning hence the girls club.
