shocking, they didn't switch the plan up every 1.5 seasons? - NewYorkNuck
As you already know, planning is a day-to-day thing. Every multimillion dollar company roles that way. |

Yes, but Lordy has complained loudly that Bo doesn’t do that enough or at times when it’s needed. I agree somewhat, but I have no complaints about Bo’s physicality. Saying that, I sure would like to see the team have a bit more of that tenacity that the 2010 team had though. - bloatedmosquito
I just wish he hit more... but it seems like it's a team thing. Watching the playoffs (which is a bit skewed, to be fair), seems like other teams forechecks are for the puck and the body. The Canucks just swing at pucks and do flybys
Other than that, Bo's a beast. |

I do think that Bo shows 90% of what we need as a C and leadership. I just wish that when players take liberties with Peterson or Hughes, Boeser Hogs whatever he would send a message is all. It's amazing how much ice opens up for your stars when there is backing from the Captain or whoever will step up. This a very soft club right now and it gets amplified to me when your Captain skates away as Petey is being crosschecked from behind or Hughes is getting Kneed. When I watched Iggy do it in CGY it's like a cancer that spreads through the room and the respect and lift the teams gets is what's needed. |

Yup, I’m a Bo fan so rarely blame him for anything. The rest of the team... |

100%
Sportsnet had a take on that:
https://www.sportsnet.ca/...-landeskog-leads-example/
“Landeskog set the tone for his team early when he dropped the gloves with Brayden Schenn as a response to a hit Schenn laid on Mikko Rantanen. The winger later helped set up Nathan MacKinnon’s first of the post-season and midway through the second period he tipped in a MacKinnon shot to extend his team’s third-period lead.
That’s a Gordie Howe hat trick if you’re keeping score at home.” |

It's all relative, better coach, structure, actual systems to play to.
I think Hughes could be a fantastic defenceman with the right coaching and structure.
And I'm not seeing how anyone can call Colorado soft, easily handled the blues last night. - Makita
Systems has such a massive part in how Hughes plays, and how it is also going to restrict Rathbone. Both Hughes and Rathbone were elite zone entry and zone breakout specialists in the NCAA. The canucks constantly play dump and chase, in both zones. Colorado is one of the top teams in the league at controlled zone exits and entries. The game has changed, and Colorado is the poster team for how teams need to play. Canucks need a new-age coach who can employ new age systems.

Wasn’t Weisbrod the mastermind behind the Ryan O’Reilly offer sheet in Calgary?

i totally agree with you that this is needed on the team. this team "culture" is what i think is missing on the team and i have seen no indications that it is coming.
i was thinking about this the other day:
what is this team's identity? or if it has no identity, what type of identity is it developing?
2007-2014 "sedin team" which meant that they would try to beat you with skill. not too physical but wanted to rely on the pp if you wanted to dirty it up.
2000-2005 "west coast express" which was a fast team. had a good blend of speed, size and skill.
1991-1996 "linden/bure" skilled, big and could skate. played a "big" game. size plus skill with a good amount of edge.
so i ask, what type of identity does this team have or is it developing? and if something is lacking, is JB going to find out what that is and how to get it? |

it takes great people skills to be loved across multiple sports:
"Honestly, as long as John Weisbrod was the GM, there was no way," said Tracy McGrady. "There was no way I would have stepped another foot in a Magic uniform."
Smith pressed McGrady for a reason.
"Why? Just his whole demeanor, the way he goes about doing business. I don't know if I can say this, but I'm going to say it. He's an as shole." |

They're certainly a soft team that could easily be dismantled by a US playoff team.
A few timely hit's and they'll fold like a two dollar lawn chair. |

Looking forward to the game today, only because it is raining pretty good, so now I can see some of the last games of Edler, Vesey, Boyd and Schmidt, in a Canucks uniform.
Now this is really something to celebrate.
