Greetings my Canucks friends!

For the first time in over 40 years, we get the dream playoff matchup: Leafs vs. Habs.

This is a heated rivalry - lots of bad blood on both sides. And it's particularly heated for Canucks fans, because you hate both teams!

To add to the excitement, I'v created a prediction thread.

There's going to be a lot of trolling in the next two weeks, so let's keep the respective fan bases accountable - time to make your predictions! Please follow this link:

https://hockeybuzz.com/bo...172625&page=last#21507353

Yes, even Canucks fans are welcome!

Much like the yearly prediction threads, there are no real rules for your predictions. Right down as little or as much as you want.

The thread will then be locked on Thursday night, so you can't change anything.

Please do not comment on other posters' comments in the prediction thread. Save that for our regular threads.

And a reminder: you don't have to do it all at once (two rosters make it quite long). You can do a little, save, then come back and keep editing.

Everyone is welcome.

See you on Thursday night!

Welcome to the thread. We won’t hold your Ontario past against you.

Actually, that’s a lie. We will hold it against you any chance we get.

think back to the excitement in this market *2 years ago* when Hughes, EP40 & Boeser were buzzing in late season 3-on-3 OT. Market was crackling with anticipation. Possibilities were endless.

I can only imagine the results Benning would get with that kind of freedom. What he’s done with FA constantly meddling has been nothing short is fantastic work.

i totally agree with you that this is needed on the team. this team "culture" is what i think is missing on the team and i have seen no indications that it is coming.

i was thinking about this the other day:
what is this team's identity? or if it has no identity, what type of identity is it developing?

2007-2014 "sedin team" which meant that they would try to beat you with skill. not too physical but wanted to rely on the pp if you wanted to dirty it up.

2000-2005 "west coast express" which was a fast team. had a good blend of speed, size and skill.

1991-1996 "linden/bure" skilled, big and could skate. played a "big" game. size plus skill with a good amount of edge.

so i ask, what type of identity does this team have or is it developing? and if something is lacking, is JB going to find out what that is and how to get it?

- RealityChecker

Good points here on 'identity'.

I just don't know what we are right now. I truly believe we aren't as bad as the record shows but maybe it's attitude? Country Club? Hard to say.

I think this 'core' will develop their own identity in years to come but like you said if JB stays what does he need to add/do to fix it? I would start with the D and hopefully we can draft an excellent RHD that is big tough and mobile and that contribute on the scoresheet. I get the whole BPA thing but to me there is a time/place for that. And if we don't pick top 5 which I highly doubt we will, hopefully a great RHD falls our way.

? I don’t remember either of those situations. You got links?

Either way, Sakic has been GM since 2013/2014 season. In that time he’s built the avalanche back into a true cup contender. Five seasons making the playoffs (three DNQ).

Sakic had to learn on the job and has done far better than JB who is supposed to be a experienced executive. Just goes to show what a failure JB has been.

- bloatedmosquito

Sakic mentored under Lacroix, one of the greatest and gutsiest GM’s ever, in my humble opinion.

Speaking of Colorado,

Wasn’t Weisbrod the mastermind behind the Ryan O’Reilly offer sheet in Calgary?

Thats how fucked up this fanbase is.
I can't say I have seen a defenseman be so horrible defensively.

Absolutely pathetic.

Looking forward to the game today, only because it is raining pretty good, so now I can see some of the last games of Edler, Vesey, Boyd and Schmidt, in a Canucks uniform.

Now this is really something to celebrate.

Personally, I think this core is rotten.
I know people get their knickers in a knot, when I criticize Queenie and Pouty, but these 2 kids have said some things, that make me believe that they are not the types you win with.
It starts with attitude and owning up to how you play, neither seem to have that.

Welcome Yannick72,

I live in Metchosin just across the Colwood border by a few miles, are you looking at the Royal Bay development, and the more serious question, are you aware of the outrageous house prices on the market in Victoria?

Hey Yannick, welcome!

My son has played minor (house) hockey since he was 6. He will be playing his final season this fall (fingers crossed).

We did try some extra lessons etc early on, but he never really excelled, so we allowed him to just go at his own pace instead.

Is this his first year of hockey? I was just thinking maybe give it a year to make sure he likes it before investing in extra training?

The climate here is great for year round activity, Soccer, Hockey in the fall/winter, baseball/lacrosse in the spring/summer plus tons of other options.

Having said that, there are some great personal coaches who do small group and one on one instruction.

Denise had a very good reputation here:
http://www.powerunlimited.ca/

I’ve also worked with Rob, he’s really great with kids and most of the minor hockey associations hire him for extra on ice coaching.

After a little extra research i realize their is two hockey association in Victoria area: Victoria minor hockey and Juan de Fuca association.
We are planning on buying a house in Colwood/Langford area. Is Juan de Fuca minor hockey is the association for Colwood/langford area?[/img]

I was thinking Sautner, but Demko works.

For all the complaining this fanbase does about the team etc, we want shiny poopty defensive ly players like Hughes, some think Schmidt is great, they want skill drafted over anything else, all I say is this fanbase gets what they deserve.
A Supersoft, poopty hockey team, but wait, doesn't that Hughes kid skate cute.

I wonder how Sakic would be doing without Mackinnon at 1oa, Landeskog at 2oa and Duchene at 3oa on his team to start with.

Royal Bay has had a ton of houses go up recently. Buy into that market while it's still relatively cheap cause it won't be for long. Super nice neighborhood as well
