you know that most (90%) of the posters here don't buy your act right? even the guys who are uber pro-JB know your act.
remember when you wanted to be the canuck blogger? remember when you campaigned for it? what happened to that nucker? (seriously) - RealityChecker

Trade OJ. Sign Jake McCabe instead of Edler. |

Agreed. He tossed that one back to the D when he had the whole slot to move in and shoot. But first couple shifts it’s tough I’m sure. I’m more impressed by him to far than Lind. Small sample of course. |

yeah, it's hard to argue against JB the genius.
the team has been bottom 5 overall since his tenure began and that to you is a winning argument. |

3oa, a 1oa and a 2oa on the team. Who are those players on Van? - manvanfan
So now the excuse is draft position? Excuses are for the weak. |

Lind struggles with NHL pace, needs more seasoning and should focus on that during the summer |

I still have hope for him. Saw him take over the rockets over time. He’s always adapted after a taste. This is a big jump, but hoping! |

Yeah, too soon to write him off for sure but he probably is a longer term project |

i have friends originally from edmonton. die hard oiler fans. i would laugh at their nonsense as to why the rebuild was just about to turn the corner or why it hadn't already. the best was "oh, well the rebuild didn't actually start until..." and then the cycles of excuses would begin again.
i've heard the echoes in this thread for the last several years. it's embarassing. - RealityChecker
Nothing will change as long as the fan base accepts mediocrity. 50+ years of it. You'd think these "fans" would demand accountability from the people who run their favorite sports team by not supporting an inferior product. What a bunch of pillow-biters. |

wait, so you think that making excuses for the season that just occured but not allowing for excuses for last summer's playoffs is having a level-headed debate?
really? what i consider that to be is trying to slant a narrative that isn't there. which is actually what you're doing because i don't believe you to be a benning supporter.
but anyway, you can't have your cake and eat it too. if you think that covid and injuries are valid excuses, they were there for other teams as well.
st. louis, minny and LVK were out of shape. and not playing 100% and had tough travel schedules blah blah blah. why aren't they allowed to make excuses as to why they didn't play like they wanted?
you use excuses and justifications to provide context for the failures but fail to do so for the victories. that is not having a level-headed debate.
but that's not your intention. your intention is to troll. |

it's weaksauce.
remember how upset some posters got at the media person who asked petey about his weight at training camp?
it's all about feelings. losing doesn't matter as long as people are nice to one another. can't tell JB he's doing a bad job, his feelings might get hurt. fire him? are you crazy? he might get really sad! |

Again, making it personal.
Apples to oranges comparison. All teams had the same issues in the bubble. This season is different not all teams actually had covid run through their locker room and have that many games rescheduled and so condensed together. And not every team had their best forward out long term, make sense?
I look forward to your level headed response. |

how is covid different than injuries? injuries happen every year and teams are expected to get through it.
and aside from the 10 game run prior to the covid break, how had the team been playing?
what your argument basically boils down to is that the team should be judged on the 10 games prior to the covid break and the 15ish games last july. what i'm saying is that the team should be judged for the complete 7 years of JB's tenure. and just like the context for this season, there is context for last summer as well.
context being that the team overly relied on goaltending and a weird format. context also shows that they might not have made the playoffs without covid shutting the season down.
i hope you understand and look forward to you saying that the core is so bright and all that's needed is more time for jb.
so i ask you: what do you think will be different in jb's managing the next few years? what makes you think he will better handle the cap situation? what makes you think he will be better at finding pro level defenders? i'm judging him on what he's done. what are you judging him on?
(thanks for not making it personal and acknowledging/not lying about the booner thing.) |

I love seeing the guys doing well on the score sheet and winning games, but in 2 meaningless games I prefer a better draft position.
EDIT: Did they take back that Myers goal? |

Just going through some numbers and there’s not a lot of difference in productivity between 1st and 5th picks. After that, production drops off quite a bit. That’s not surprising because the top picks are scouted very heavily and teams will also give them every possible opportunity to succeed because they’ve spent so much time, energy, and money to secure them. So even if they’re not good, they’ll probably get their NHL games and points.
But that shouldn’t be an excuse for the Canucks dismal record under JB. They have had very good draft position over the last eight seasons and yet are no better than when JB started. At some point you need to hold leaders accountable. If not who is... the draft lottery ball machine? |
