I watched it, it was a fun third period. Rest of the game was a crapshoot.
Hoping for points right now is just counter-productive in a season thats already finished.
I get they have their pride and I wouldnt expect them to go out there and not try, they're just not doing themselves any favours....
There is nothing left to play for this year except a high draft pick. - vancity787
Has nothing to do with pride. A fans point of view has no bearing on a Pro playing for a contract & job. They didn't make it this far by quitting or being unprofessional contrary to fans wishes.
This draft isn’t loaded & there will still be a good prospect to pick at wherever we end up. |

Got to look for higher ceiling picks in the middle rounds. Spot 7 to 11 doesnt have that much difference in value. |

You want these players feeling good heading into the off-season and develop a winning culture. That win against the Oilers and the amazing comeback against the Flames is a solid start. Hopefully a couple of more wins to close out the season and carry over that momentum into off-season training and camp next season with Benning(hopefully) getting to use that top draft pick and some of that cap space this summer to improve the team.
So far the team seems to have more speed, skill and toughness than I can ever remember, they just need to stay heathy and add a kid like Pod into the top 6 and some more older vet players in free agency to round out the roster.
Exciting times ahead. - Nucker101

I guarantee you these players arent out there trying to build up some good mojo for the offseason. These players want this season to be fukking over.
They didnt give up last night, good for them. momentum was on their side in the third and they pounced.

I get pride. I totally do. And I would never expect the Canucks to just lay down and die... That being said, they've known this season has bee over for quite some time now.
They want this shyt over as badly as we do. |

Quit complaining that a team used a legal means of building their team strength for the playoffs.
Start complaining that “your” team isn’t making the same efforts when the opportunities arise.
Ya, no. It's literal cap circumvention. Especially as the Canucks retroactively got punished for it, it's a slap in the face to see it blatantly happening elsewhere with the league not saying a thing. |

basically, cam's saying, "don't complain about selective enforcement of rules, hope your team gets away with it."
that's what's wrong with the league offices. from on ice to off, who knows what gets called and what doesn't. all i know from watching the canucks for 40 years is that the canucks will get caught and punished more than most teams so... fcuk off cam. |

I still don't agree with his assertion of "legal". They used a legal means illegally.

I'm sure the players are very aware of how a higher pick might help. Having said that many are playing for jobs next year and to expect a 'player tank' isn't really doing the club any favours either lol. You want the team to strive to play well no matter what. |

Why didn't they fight it? I'll tell you why. That's fake money on the cap that Aquaman doesn't need to spend to spend to the cap. It's an out to save money that's why |

They are operating within the rules of the CBA. Maybe in the future, there will be a punishment for teams that decide to take the route that TB has. The league did send out an email saying they were not happy with teams taking such advantage of it.
Luongo didn't have to "retire" he could have went on LTIR. |

I agree, these whiners are annoying. What the Bolts did is completely allowed under the current agreement, shut up already. Luongo didn’t go on LTIR because he wanted to work for the Panthers. I guess he could have gone and worked for the league for a few years, but that likely would have meant moving to NY. |

Do you have a link to the section of the agreement where it states this? |
